Well i dont have an i phone, but i do have a smart phone sp lets compare those 10 things...
1. memory - Yep, my phone is expandable to 32 gigs
2. ibooks - yep i can read pdf's on my phone, ipad will have a file format that only it can read
3. screen res - well the ipad wins here with 1,024x768
4. keyboard - mine works fine as it is, i do't need a bigger one
5. exclusive apps - wow... more shit that you have to pay apple for
6. large screen area - well obviously... it is bigger isn't it do not see why it is an advantage
7. Cellular Internet Service With NO Contract - would like to see how this one will work down here in australia, cant see it happening
8 - More Viewing Options - they are really looking for 9 things now arent they
9 - more speed - yeah it is quicker, but at the moment my phone is underclocked and could run at the same processor speed
on top of all of that, i can view flash websites, and most of all, MY PHONE CAN MULTI-TASK

Didn't buy one (recently got an iPhone), but I DID have my first real life sighting. A guy in the hotel lobby where I was staying had the box opened in his lap yesterday. The device was switched on. It was pretty. The next time I'm in an Apple store I plan to play with one. If money were no object I'd have one in a second.R.i.p. Rigoberto Alpizar.

Despite the Huffington Post article, I don't see the iPad as anything other than a bigger iphone. And why would I want to carry around something that bulky. I have an iPhone, but I think a lot of people have drunk the kool aid on the iPad. It just doesn't seem worth it to me. And since you can only use it on wifi at this point, I wouldn't even consider it if I didn't have the iphone. The only people we should try to get even with...
...are those who've helped us.
Right 'round the corner could be bigger than ourselves.0 -
I actually cant think of any need for this, whats wrong with a laptop?0
-
I still havent heard the answer to "why"
ipods, zunes, droids, what have you, do the job of portability just fine.
Laptops are bulkier that the portable units, but have way more capability.
I really dont see the function or advantage of an "Ipad".0 -

It is very light. Laptops can be awkward when moving around. I think if nothing else, the iPad gets an A for ease of use and comfort factor.
It's just very simplistic.. for the person who said they can read books on their phone, I can too and it SUCKS!
I could definitely see this being awesome for reading.0 -

Books are pretty good for that too. No recharging needed."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -

As the technology becomes cheaper, these things will become more practical. The only reason I'd get a laptop over an iPad right now is multitasking and storage space. Other than that, the iPad is pretty cool.0 -

Books are heavy and awkward? I just lifted a book that was on my desk up with one finger. And when I read it outside I don't have to worry about the glare on the screen or recharging it.
Heavy and awkward....that's priceless."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
I think what Like an Ocean was trying to say was that we have book readers for almost the same reasons we have iPods - think of being able to store as many books as you can, being able to access them whenever you can, on a single, compact electronic device. Just like we can carry the equivalent of hundreds of albums on a single iPod.
Anyway, I did get to play with an iPad at the Apple Store. The wow factor is undeniable. However, given I already have a late 2009 13.3" MacBook Pro AND a 32GB iPhone 3GS, I can't justify getting one right now."It's not hard to own something. Or everything. Immagine having thousands of books on an iPad.. more than you could fit in your house.. a library at your fingertips!
People are so quick to hate this thing because its Apple and its been done before. I thought it was stupid too, but the more I think about it, the handier this thing becomes.
Don't think of it as a laptop or pc. It's really just an interactive clipboard. Don't buy one if you don't see the advantages of it for you.
I'm not sold on this yet, but could see myself being when they get more powerful.
And no, I don't own an iPod or an iPhone.0 -

i'm in the midst of a 5 day weekend get away. i've taken my laptop thru 5 states and find that the weight/size/ease of use factor to be very favorable.81 is now off the air0 -

I'd buy one if it could multitask and had more hard drive space.. until then, I'm not sold, but I think its a step in the right direction.0 -

That is a valid argument for it, especially if you travel a lot."We're fixed good, lamp-wise."0 -
I've never purchased an Apple product and don't think I ever will. Maybe the biggest reason is Steve Jobs has forever creeped me out. Dude is always wearing that same black mock turtleneck and blue jeans, which is stupid of course, but it's his demeanor that really bothers me. He's just a creepy fucking weirdo. Their ads have always felt like hype to me. I'd rather deal with Bill Gates, that fuck. My Zune is badass, I have Dell and HP computers that run fine, and yep, life is good outside of Apple Nation.
Also, I really don't see the appeal of a semi-computer that has no USB or Flash. And I never want to read iBooks.0
