I like when bands put out rarities, but I don't like it when you have to buy the original album again. Only hardcore fans will buy this 2 disc compilation, and what fan doesn't already have the original Ten disc?
Would you buy a remixed version of the original album?
Can't escape from the common rule...
If you hate something, don't you do it too
I don't know....for me....I could kind of take this or leave it. It seems like it's one thing to remix/remaster old albums from the '60s and '70s, but 1990 wasn't all that long ago. Plus, seems to me to be kind of like colorizing old black and white movies. Yeah, you're improving the quality, but are you really making it "better?"
I'm not sure I even WANT a new Ten....I'm happy with the existing one. It would be like tearing down the existing Yankee Stadium and building a whole new.....er.....nevermind.
Bottom line I guess would be this is cool if it was just an off-handed sort of thing to work on for a month or two, but if they're spending months and months on this that they could be spending working on NEW stuff, I'd be disappointed.
95: San Francisco, San Jose
96: Seattle
97: Oakland
98: Sacramento
00: Sacramento, Mt. View, Portland
02: Seattle (2)
03: Mt. View, Las Vegas, Phoenix
05: Vancouver
06: Albany, Hartford, Denver (2), LA (2), SF (3)
08: Santa Barbara & San Diego (EV), Camden II, Washington DC, MSG II
If this really is a remaster, and it's on the same level of the stuff we heard on Rearviewmirror, then I'll definately get this. Ten is an album that desperate needs remastering.

the guys won't be producing it, so it will take little-to-none of their time to get it done. they were probably just asked what b-sides to include, write some new liner notes, sat in a couple meetings...from how it sounds, the things already basically finished anyways...the fanclub wouldn't be hinting at this thing coming out if they hadn't even started work on it yet...
Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...
... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
I'd be all for this if I wasn't so certain that it would be remastered to the shitty loudness wars standards of today. The only thing that was probably wrong with the album was all the reverb. I see nothing wrong with the actual mastering that was done to the album and I won't hold my breath on it sounding any better than it already does.
They are far from the biggest band in the world anymore but they are still very relevant. I don't think a Ten re-release is an attempt to remain relevant.
I'm not saying they are irrelavent, they are certainly relevant to the half a million or people who have joined 10C, I just think that trying to reach a new set of fans with a gentle reminder of what people who are not into PJ are missing is a way of increasing their fan base. It's interesting how many people write on here that they got into PJ only recently and how many people (like me) have been crazy about them for years, but didn't bother to 'get active'. A Ten re-release might mobilise a few more fans and more fans means more albums... many more, I hope
I would totally pick it up, especially if they released a Vinyl copy with bonus material. Been needing to add Ten to my collection anyway (for vinyl).
PJ: 2003 Mansfield: July 2 2004 Boston: Sept 28 & 29 2005 Montreal: Sept 15 2006 Boston: May 24 & 25 2008 Hartford: June 27, Mansfield: June 28, 2010 Boston: May 17 2013 Worcester: Oct 15, Hartford: Oct 25, 2016 Hampton: April 18, Raleigh: April 20 (cancelled), Columbia: April 21. Quebec: May 5. Boston (Fenway): August 7
well, theres is a good handful of tracks that were recorded but not released on lost dogs. i say throw those on the first disc, after the remixed/remastered version of TEN, and then use the 2nd disc for a full concert from the era...similar setup to the Who's Next Deluxe Edition...i've got plenty of "modern" era PJ tracks from Ten...released a great SQ version of an old show from '91-'92 instead of a mish-mash of Ten tracks from '08 as the 2nd disc and i'll be happy...no idea what the dvd content will be, but it could always just be the album in 5.1 with little/no visual content...hope its a show or documentary, but who knows...
i totally agree about the live tracks. there is such a glut of of live pearl jam from these recent days. they keep talking about all this stuff in their live vault, but aside from one fan-only mediocre quality copy of that 91 nye show, we've seen none of it. if they want to do a "live ten" i'd vastly prefer the tracks be taken from their 91-94 heyday. but they'd have to give dave a royalties for that probably, so god knows it will never happen...
i'd be all for a remixed ten. the way they sounded on the greatest hits is way better than the actual ten. i can take or leave remastering. im not as concerned about rarities. i've got those songs on lost dogs.

Personally, just seems like another way to make $$. It's been 17 years since Ten came out. Not even a 20th anniversay edition and they are too late for a 15th. Just don't see the point right now.
Well, the album is really in need of being remastered. It sounds like shit.
I think they may as well do it now rather than wait for the 20th year. Nobody will be buying cd's in 3 years. Hell, the Best Buy near my house has reduced their floorspace of cd's by about 75%.
well they all have music complexes (which i can relate to) but fuck! It made them very rich men.. obviously it was fine the first time around
I hope this is just an obligation thing or something.. because otherwise you guys are gonna get dooped by the "rare"/must have thing once again... (which none of you seem to mind so its all good) and thats just fine. I just got over it in the last two years when prices started going up and everything was suddenly "rare" (not that this is any fault of pearl jam's , we all kind of make it easy to do so)
Pearl jam just isnt old enough for this kind of thing. I guess it comes with the territory though, what the fuck do i know. I mean to me, and to alot of you, pearl jam is the ultimate stank on shit. Best band in the world to us! Are they really like the beatles, led zepplin ect though? I mean you ask a group of ten people if they like The Beatles, you will probably get AT least 8/10 that do. I'm not so sure the same could be said for pearl jam though! Not because they are not worthy but because most people don't get most of pearl jam's best and most legacy worthy music (not to mention anything not on mtv might as well not exist to the music fans of today)
I'm just sayin..this feels like an obligation thing to me. I mean if it was just the mix of ten they were not happy with, why not just mix the original different and chuck it into the digital lounge???
its not that serious.
Its just something thats getting put out. Some people will be happy and pick it up and others will not for their reasons. Oh well. I dont get why we criticize and get mad about every lil thing they do..like OH MY GOD THEY PLAYED LEDBETTER ON FRIENDS, THEY SOLD OUT..shit like that is retarded. Big deal...Tens being re-released. Why is it such a bad thing? I'm grateful I can still have thi band around to give me whatever they do.
At worst maybe it brings in more fans and younger fans and that can be good. At least the younger generation can check out REAL music instead of the crap thats out there now.
Aah, fuck it, I’m just gonna go home, turn on the fuckin’ TV...
Watch the nightly news and drink a beer...
Like I could even change the world, yeah right...

I would much rather hear new material. I'm not quit ready for re-releases from them yet, save that for later-way later. Of coarse it'll probably be great

thanx man, I'm sorry I just get tired of hearing the criticism and the negativity, it's like "WAH, pearl Jams trying to make more money WAH

Once was also remixed for the greatest hits album, so they only have eight more songs to go.
