How long have you traveled to see Pearl Jam?

I know that our group of 5 will be departing from Miramichi, New Brunswick, Canada on the 26th to drive down to Hartford, then the two Mansfield shows. Going to be a ridiculously fun trip, and worth the 11-12 hours drive down to Hartford.
My question...How long have YOU traveled either in a group, or by yourself to see Pearl Jam? Interested in seeing the responses!

I think last year it was a 13 hour drive from Albany to Chicago only because we got caught in a ridiculous rainstorm that costed us about a hour. It was so bad we had to pull over and it wasn't even a hour and a half into the trip. It hit on the I-90 in Utica, NY (no one has probably ever heard of it besides ED's small town reference to it at one of the Borgata shows in 05). Anyways I was only in Chicago for about a day and a half basically long enough to see a cubs game and go to Lollapalooza on Sunday. We left the very next day, but it was totally bad ass and worth every cent in driving.

Our longest trips have been to Switzerland, Italy and Germany. Winnipeg, Chicago and Hawaii were also fairly long trips. The next time they play Australia and/or New Zealand I hope to be there. If that happens, that would be the farthest. :)

I'm flying back and forth 22 hours to go see Ed this weekend.

I have friends that flew from Australia to Europe to see PJ last year (that's around 20 hours each way)...several are back on the east coast this year :)

about 100 people spent about 13 hours on an overnight coach (2 buses actually) from Munich to Katowice last year, having a blast of a time!

8 of us in a rental van drove about 10 hours from Copenhagen to Nijmegen, in heavy rain!

the touring Bus in 06 drove insane distances to make it to the next show in the morning..BEFORE the equipment trucks!

    I'm sure there's worse somewhere..

First time they hit Australia in '95 4 of us finished work, rented a car and drove from Sydney to Canberra for the March 14th concert, got there just as they were about to hit the stage, drove back straight after, got in at 3am and went to work again the next day (I actually found my bootlegs from Canberra and Sydney '95 when I was home at Christmas). Travelled to Chicago from Toronto for Lolla last year.

I was home for a visit when they were touring Oz in '06... I flew out of Sydney Nov 6th and they played Nov 7th... that hurt... alot. Job really wasn't worth coming back for... I should have stayed the extra 2 days.

I don't spose I can count that I'm from Sydney, moved to Toronto and now live in NYC as travelling to see PJ... although I certainly get to see them more regularly living over here... well, that's if I finally manage to get MSG tix :(

I certainly want to travel more to see them, just the $$$ stand in the way.

  • I went from Twin Falls, Idaho to Torino, Italy (Sept. 19, 2006). I flew to Glasgow, Scotland and then backpacked all over Europe. We eventually caught Pearl Jam a second time in Vienna, Austria on the same trip. My best friend and I were actually there to do the whole "Europe Trip" thing and found out later that Pearl Jam was also touring at the time.

It was hard not to just start following the Pearl Jam tour, but like I said we were actually on our great European Adventure and PJ just happened to be there, too. It was a fantasy come true.

If you're talking Jason, no question! :D I think I've seen him at every concert I've been too. :)

NJ to Amsterdam - took train to Germany to meet my husband who was already there on business...train back to Amsterdam, rented a car & drove to Arnhem, NH.

Life changing experience. That was my show number 10!

Looking forward to 4 more this tour.

Would love to have gone to the Ed shows in CA. Hard to travel now, have 2 little ones at home...wishing he'll take the solo tour to the east.

You know this is hilarious. You guys are driving 12 hours to Hartford to see PJ. I live 15 minutes from the venue and I can't even score tickets to the show (shitty lawn does NOT count) so I doubt I'll be going. Something is wrong with this picture....

if anyone has an extra pair in the mid to lower pavilion, I would be willing to pay 4-5x face value. I am getting rather desperate at this point!
