I've been to 16 PJ shows and 1 Eddie show and the closest one has been a 3 hour drive. I've paid for lodging for every show I've attended.

I've had to fly for 11 of the 16 PJ shows I've been to. Furthest flight was from deep south texas (brownsville area) to Seattle. I think the flight time was around 8 hours.

I took a one day 7 hour r/t bus ride from texas through northern mexico on the onsale date JUST to purchase tickets (online sales were only available for bank of mexico card holders) and almost got thrown in jail by the Mexican military for not having the proper travel documentation. I then took the bus back to Mexico a month later for the actual show.

    To Live......................
    In the present tense.
  • I used to live in NY, so I've attended Boston, Albany, Saratoga,Hartford, Philly,Hershey..central NY back in the day. Not a huge expense. Now I live in Atlanta, so I'm flying to NYC for the 2 shows at the Garden. Hotel is free cause I have a shitload of Hilton points. So its just airfare and incedentals

I wouldn't mind traveling more to see them, if the finances were there. But as long as they keep touring, I will find a way to make it to at least one show/leg. Flying to Boston from a small town in PA to see them this time. I think I'm going to start saving now because I would love to see them at the Gorge (if that were to happen again...)

And although it may be frustrating to get tickets at times, what good does it do to complain?
  • I respect the "please play the south" much more now..btw

I drove to Florida from Pennsylvania my second year in college to see them, waiting in line in the sun for 7+ hours for more tickets to be released for the show, which was sold out. Thankfully they did release more tickets.

  • one good story is my buddies and i drove from c-bus to chicago last summer, and those of us not driving were drinking red wine out of the bottle (a la Ed) for the last 3 or 4 hours of the trip. we were pretty hammered by the time we got to Chicago - went to Gino's East for a huge pizza, then passed out (show was the next day).

That was my second trip to Chicago for PJ - the first was also my first two shows ever back in 98 at the UC and Alpine Valley. That was with my then-girlfriend, now wife.

Another time, four buddies and I drove from Ohio to DC for Constitution Hall and Merriweather Post Pavillion. Also in 1998. The Constitution Hall Show, we had 14th row seats, and this place is right around the corner from the White House. People were passing joints around, and this gigantic african american security guard kept walking by our row - but I don't think he ever caught anybody. The coolest part of this story (if you're a sports fan) was that we went to a baseball game at Camden Yards on a whim -that was when it was still very new. The crazy part is, that game ended up being Cal Ripken's last game in his streak. We woke up in the hotel the next morning and turned on ESPN, and it was his press conference saying he was going to sit out that day for the first time in whatever, a bazillion games I think is the exact number but I'm not sure.

The Constitution Hall Show is tied for my first favorite - it's just a beautiful arena. The other favorite is the Toledo Sports Arena in 2004 during the Vote for Change tour. It was awesome b/c we had 3rd row seats, and Neil Young made a surprise appearance with his wife. They played with the band, and it absolutely ROCKED.

Also did a 4 night stands in 2000 and 2003. Cbus, Cincy, Indy, Pitts.

I travel from small town Virginia, where I can assume they will never play live. Base my annaul family vacation on where the band will be playing this year. No matter how frustrated I've been with 10C issues, i have never complained. In the big picture, these issues are a bump in the road.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

I am from the DC area and have travelled as Far as Seattle across the country to see Pearl jam.
I have been to shows in Florida, PA, NJ, NYC, MD, VA, and Washington DC. I try to go to atleast 2 shows a tour
if i can sometimes more but mainly stay on the east coast when shows are not on weekends ( too hard with work DARN work ughhh) My first show was in 1995 at DAR constitution hall with L7 and Neil Young ( I was 15, I am now 30 and still as much of a fan as ever)
I have been to 21 shows so far and hope to if i can get MSG tix ( computer errors from tenclub caused me to miss out on the pre-sale) go to three more this tour ( including the VA show)
not sure if that means i am hardcore but hell I must be close

Does it not matter where they tour you are bound to make at least 1 or 2 shows on that tour?(Overseas excluded)
Do you not complain about the way tickets are sold?

So what type of fan are you? What have you done in order to see the band?

I'll travel...Vegas to Columbus....but, apparently, some big city types on the East Coast would rather not. Travel. that is. :wtf:

Has nothing to do with being a "big city type on the East Coast", if you have an obsession for the band, you will travel if you can. When I was living in Fl, I travelled back to NY (only stayed for 20 hours), to see them in Jersey. For the last tour, when I got shut out of tickets for MSG, I went to West Palm to see them rock the Cruzan Amphitheater (or whatever its called now). And for the first part of this tour, I flew to Seattle for the weekend to see them open in Key Arena, then went to Philly on Halloween to watch them close the tour at the Spectrum. I would even travel further if I could. I want to see them in Europe someday and definitely in South America, when they decide to go back there.
Btw, I was born and raised in Bklyn, NY, just dont call me a "big city type". We real NYers aren't like that. ;):D

-The farthest I've driven to see PJ is Scranton to Chicago.
-I'll make 1 or two shows anywhere on the east coast but I wouldn't travel to the west coast or Europe.
-I complain about the website's server during the ticket sales. The system is otherwise fine.

He said Hard core fans ..
