Do you travel 100s of miles to see PJ?
Does it not matter where they tour you are bound to make at least 1 or 2 shows on that tour?(Overseas excluded)
Do you not complain about the way tickets are sold?

So what type of fan are you? What have you done in order to see the band?
Makes much more sense.................

-The farthest I've driven to see PJ is Scranton to Chicago.
-I'll make 1 or two shows anywhere on the east coast but I wouldn't travel to the west coast or Europe.
-I complain about the website's server during the ticket sales. The system is otherwise fine.

I'm about an hour outside of Toronto and since 2003, I've seen them 3 times in Toronto. I've seen them 12 times in total so far (Columbus and Noblesville to be added this year); 6 of those times within Canada's border. Me and my friend travel a lot to go see them play. It's like a mini-vacation for us. We try and pick cities/states we haven't been to within reasonable driving distance of course. The furthest we've driven to would be Washington, DC.

2000 tour: after me and a bunch of friends graduated high school, we drove from north jersey to VA beach to see them play. i was 17 at the time, my friends were 18. we were pretty out of our league at the time. we left north jersey at like midnight, hit the chesapeake bay bridge at sunrise, and it was amazing.

stayed in VA for the week smoking and drinking non stop... loving life, and loving pearl jam.

We're road trippin' from Denver to Buffalo with stops at the cities they're playing in between. The trip is actually broken up nice getting there, but coming back... I'm glad to have a j-o-b that allows me the option!

no, i think that means you are hardcore. i know everybody has the right to enjoy the show how they wish, but i truly dislike seeing supposed fan club members standing there like zombies. the band has said several times that they feed off the energy of the crowd, so why not give so we can get, you know? more crowd energy = more band energy = fucking fantastic set list and performance, and overall experience.

I'm with ya! I live in FL so I've learned to do what I have to do. Been to Seattle twice and Oakland once; all others have been within driving distance. And since I'm not trying for the NE shows I've never had a problem with tickets.

I've been to 16 PJ shows and 1 Eddie show and the closest one has been a 3 hour drive. I've paid for lodging for every show I've attended.

I've had to fly for 11 of the 16 PJ shows I've been to. Furthest flight was from deep south texas (brownsville area) to Seattle. I think the flight time was around 8 hours.

I took a one day 7 hour r/t bus ride from texas through northern mexico on the onsale date JUST to purchase tickets (online sales were only available for bank of mexico card holders) and almost got thrown in jail by the Mexican military for not having the proper travel documentation. I then took the bus back to Mexico a month later for the actual show.

Now I live in Atlanta, so I'm flying to NYC for the 2 shows at the Garden. Hotel is free cause I have a shitload of Hilton points. So its just airfare and incedentals

    What You Giving

I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!
  • I wouldn't mind traveling more to see them, if the finances were there. But as long as they keep touring, I will find a way to make it to at least one show/leg. Flying to Boston from a small town in PA to see them this time. I think I'm going to start saving now because I would love to see them at the Gorge (if that were to happen again...)

And although it may be frustrating to get tickets at times, what good does it do to complain?
  • I respect the "please play the south" much more now..btw

I drove to Florida from Pennsylvania my second year in college to see them, waiting in line in the sun for 7+ hours for more tickets to be released for the show, which was sold out. Thankfully they did release more tickets.

  • one good story is my buddies and i drove from c-bus to chicago last summer, and those of us not driving were drinking red wine out of the bottle (a la Ed) for the last 3 or 4 hours of the trip. we were pretty hammered by the time we got to Chicago - went to Gino's East for a huge pizza, then passed out (show was the next day).

That was my second trip to Chicago for PJ - the first was also my first two shows ever back in 98 at the UC and Alpine Valley. That was with my then-girlfriend, now wife.

Another time, four buddies and I drove from Ohio to DC for Constitution Hall and Merriweather Post Pavillion. Also in 1998. The Constitution Hall Show, we had 14th row seats, and this place is right around the corner from the White House. People were passing joints around, and this gigantic african american security guard kept walking by our row - but I don't think he ever caught anybody. The coolest part of this story (if you're a sports fan) was that we went to a baseball game at Camden Yards on a whim -that was when it was still very new. The crazy part is, that game ended up being Cal Ripken's last game in his streak. We woke up in the hotel the next morning and turned on ESPN, and it was his press conference saying he was going to sit out that day for the first time in whatever, a bazillion games I think is the exact number but I'm not sure.

The Constitution Hall Show is tied for my first favorite - it's just a beautiful arena. The other favorite is the Toledo Sports Arena in 2004 during the Vote for Change tour. It was awesome b/c we had 3rd row seats, and Neil Young made a surprise appearance with his wife. They played with the band, and it absolutely ROCKED.

Also did a 4 night stands in 2000 and 2003. Cbus, Cincy, Indy, Pitts.
