DEFINITELY go with Shatty's results. And http://www.tripadvisor.com has some VERY interesting reviews on hotels!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I *ALWAYS* check tripadvisor reviews before I book any hotel.

those of you posting your wins and losses should also mention what days they are trying for. Thursday for example is way cheaper on the priceline wins than Friday and Saturday. That's why I split it up and got the Rossevelt for $91 for just thursday and the millenium for $141 for friday and saturday.

anyone arriving JFK 3:20 on Thursday and wants to share a cab to hit me.

I've looked at that option, but the thing that sucks is you will have to check out at around 11:00 and not be able to check into your next hotel until after 3:00pm so you have to deal with moving all your shit and being without a hotel for 4 hours.

Looks like a great deal. I stayed at a Hotel Indigo in Phoenix and it was a pleasant stay.

Yeah, but I roll with a backpack and that's it. I figure I will maybe just pick up my 10c tickets, grab some lunch and then check in. no big deal. Also, any hotel will hold your bag for a little while.
  • ahhh...you roll with a backpack. I roll with a wife and when rolling to NYC, its a tough sell to get her to pack real lightly  Good point about the hotel holding your bags though!

Some hotels charge a few bucks but usually they don't, and they keep the bags behind them in a small room so for the most part its secure. We've done that before w/ priceline bouncing us around to hotels when the two days have huge differences in price.. not too bad though.

Yeah, I've done it before at the Milford Plaza in Manhattan. I think it was like $3.00.

Have you guys been putting in MSG/Convention Area for the location in Priceline when bidding? What star level are you choosing?

Yep, and surrounding areas, but no success. 3* or 3.5*

At Betterbidding, it looks like most people are aiming at 3*/3.5* hotels in the midtown to Central Park South area, but have been unsuccessful and are forced downtown. Most 3*/3.5* wins for April/May are at the Millenium Hilton and Club Quarters (Downtown-Soho-Financial) or Millenium UN (MTE). I wonder if Priceline just doesn't have any available rooms in that central midtown area.

    Sorry wrong thread
  • Finally won a priceline bid. I was looking for a 4 star hotel, so I started in midtown east and west @ 140.00. eventually added central park south, and empire state building. Ended up bidding all the way to 180.00 before I was accepted. We ended up getting the W - Tuscany. We are staying 4 nights (wed-Sun) and the all in price ended up being about $217.00 with taxes. About $40.00 per night cheaper than the rack rate they offer. I think its a nicer hotel and it works out to be a bit cheaper than the group rate hotel threat - although not as close to MSG. Good luck to everyone else.

  • I've opted to stay in Jersey City instead of New York City, so if anyone is interested in that option...

    I got the Westin (4-star) for Thurs-Mon for $90 (106.80 with taxes)/night.

A PATH station is minutes away, and apparently, it's a 15-20 min ride to MSG. I can handle that, especially when it saves me $100+/night.

I know most would prefer to be within stumbling distance, but I'm used to taking an hour long train to and from concerts in Toronto, so this is nothing, and it's way better than my options in Mansfield in 2008. :)

Just got the Eastgate Tower Hotel on Priceline. Looks OK(mediocre). Priceline bid 2.5 stars, Areas: MSG, Chelsea, Midtown East, Midtown West, Times Square, Empire State. Price: $121
Journey Begins: 1992-08-15, Montage Mountain Performing Arts Center,
    Scranton, Pennsylvania

Stay amid the art galleries and trendy restaurants of the fashionable Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan at the new Fashion 26 - A Wyndham Hotel. Celebrating its grand opening in April, the hotel offers an introductory special that saves $110 off regular rates.

Stay seven nights a week for $179 per night from April 24-June 30.

Housed in a newly constructed building (rare for a new Manhattan hotel), the property's sleek interiors are inspired by the Garment District/Chelsea neighborhood. For example, the bedside tables have legs that evoke a vintage sewing machine, and the front desk has a look reminiscent of an old cutting-room table.

As an added sweet incentive, guests are greeted upon arrival with a complimentary cupcake from Crumbs Bake Shop (a New York favorite).

    Blackout Dates: May 1-5, 14-18; June 8-9

Book by April 6: Click here to book online and be sure 31722038 is entered in the Corporate ID code box.
  • Man NYC hotels are a shitload more than the last time I stayed there for the '03 shows!

This was in my weekly Travelzoo newsletter, if anyone is interested. Not sure how close it is to the Garden, but seems like a decent price (?).

    $159 Sun-Thurs, weekends $30 more.

    http://hotels.travelzoo.com/new-york-ho ... mail_top20

The Marcel at Gramercy provides a hip retreat in a prime Manhattan location. NYCHotels.com promotes a special spring rate of $159 per night for the hotel, including a free upgrade to a Deluxe guest room. This saves $120 off regular rates.

This special is valid for stays Sunday-Thursday nights through June. Weekends are $30 more.

Situated in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood, the hotel provides easy access to Midtown and downtown attractions. The hotel is a 15-minute walk to the Empire State Building, and a 10-minute walk to Union Square and the Flatiron Building. Shopping on Madison and Fifth Avenues is five minutes away.

Book by April 6: Click here to book online and be sure to use offer code TZGROUP.

About the Hotel: Fully renovated in 2008, the hotel boasts an edgy design. Deluxe guest rooms feature chartreuse leather headboards, Frette linens, LCD flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations and marble bathrooms with rainfall showerheads and Lather amenities. The hotel's restaurant and wine bar, 'inoteca, features classic Northern Italian cuisine. Complimentary coffee service is available in the 10th-floor guest lounge.
