I don't even know if I should be doing MSG. I just don't have the money right now. If there were two shows in KC I would do it.

I hear ya. Well, let me know if you do MSG. I'm meeting Bill (BigGameCaptain) out there if we get tixs. He's coming out from Maui! If you do go to MSG maybe we could figure out a flight together. 6+ hrs of PJ on the laptop and cocktails is more fun with a friend!
  • Where is everyone staying? I want to be walking distance to the show, so what are some good hotels for the price?

I have a killer deal on the Westin Crown Center to share with you all - as soon as I get it finalized I'll post the details. Rooms will be $79/night (which is AWESOME considering they're normally $219). The hotel is about a mile away.

I have to fill out the form and then they will give us a website that we can reseve the rooms through.

Stay tuned - I'm so excited that I scored tix to BOTH KC and STL!!!!! :D

Are you serious, $79? I just looked at the website... that is amazing, it's like 60% off or something!! :)

Please keep us up to date. As long as you rowdy fuckers promise to get SOME sleep and not run up and down the halls after the show till 3 AM, I'm in! :)

I would totally be up for that, I much prefer not to have to fly alone. I have to decide if I can afford to go and then hope the site doesn't crash tomorrow. Give me a call tomorrow and let me know if you get tickets.

i did the same for Columbia 08. good times, and the place was full of Fans
Yeah, we were there too. It was great. In fact, we met a couple of guys there & one of them as I recall was from Charlotte. His brother was with him (from someplace in Canada). They had extra tickets & swapped us our crappier seats for their better seats. Wish I remembered their names.
Anyway, Flying Saucer in KC - We ARE THERE!!!

My wife and I are from Atlanta and we purchased tickets to both KC and St. Louis. We saw them in 2004 in St. Louis. We're looking forward to the trip. Keep the BBQ and hotel suggestions coming.

I guess we'll be sitting next to each other then. I'm taking my son to his first ever PJ show. I hope he can deal with being that close. :) He's only been to one other concert in his life. So this is a BIG deal for me (and him too). I'm seriously so excited I can hardly stand it. Anyone know really damn good earplugs for kids?

  • I highly (read: HIGHLY) recommend Oklahoma Joe's. I've lived in KC for about five years now and my wife and I stopped doing the tour of local joints after we discovered Okie Joe's. We even had them cater our rehearsal dinner last year.

Pulled pork sandwich carolina style (cole slaw on top) with kick ass fries (or potato salad, or baked beans) is a can't miss. Unfortunately, the PJ show is on a Monday, and the absolutely amazing burnt ends are only served on Wednesday and some on Saturday.

Granted, it's in a gas station. But the gas station just happens to be attached. For us, it is the be all-end all of barbecue in KC, in our full-stomached humble opinions.

Oh, and Anthony Bourdain named Okie Joe's one of the 13 places to eat before you die. So...

Soooo fucking excited to be going to KC ! Just had to get that off my chest...last minute decision
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.

I've had enough, said enough, felt enough. I'm fine, still in it.

I'm liking the Flying Saucer that you guys suggested (#23)...you really can't go wrong with 225 beers on draught.

It's nice to have a place super close by so you can go pickup your 10c tixs and then head back for a few more. I wonder if they are set up well for a Wishlist Pre-Party/Fundraiser event. Any KC locals know?

I just got my pair! Hell yes! Going to KC for PJ and disc golf!!!
  • As a local, here's a Sprint Center tip:

The west entrance is always crowded as hell and about 30 people deep at each door. Go around the block to the northeast entrance, where it probably won't be much more than 4 or 5 people deep. But, shh. It's a secret.

Nope. You're not looking in the wrong place. The Sheraton in STL has screwed us over (offered a "group rate" of a lousy $106 when people were pricelineing $45), but the Westin in KC has hooked us up big time. I'm still waiting to get the discount code to book the room with but as soon as I do I will let you know ASAP.

Thanks for the heads up. Would be nice to find a hotel for all us 10c fans to take over! You should ask if they offer a shuttle service and how late it runs. If not, a shared cab ride is super cheap too.

I'll find out about the shuttle too.. that would be sweet. If that area's not too bad (i'm not familiar with downtown KC, we could always walk - it's only a mile.)

We had to start our Spring Break a little late due to the tickets going on sale so late in the morning. So my husband said to my son "Well, our Spring Break will solely depend on if your mom got Pearl Jam tickets or not". It's either going to be a great trip or she will be on edge.
    How awful.
    But so true.

It's been too damn long. We moved to Germany in 2001-2006 and I had to fly from there just to see them in Dallas. So I am ridiculously excited.

  • Not sure if this happened to anyone else, but I just got an email confirmation about my tickets and they put me in for St. Louis and not KC. But I ordered them for KC (it's even in my history). Was just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Update: I think something's just gone a little haywire. I received confirmation on KC. Whew. I didn't think I was going to be sleeping tonight.

Same thing happened to me. I emailed them to make sure it didn't get screwed up and I got the wrong tickets. Then seconds later I got my KC confirmation. I think it must be a glitch because there is no way someone responded that fast at 7PM west coast.
