It's simply just one of those songs that will never sound as good live as the studio version.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

No, go on, there must be more things that you feel you have to criticize.
you're right. why do people on here let other people's OPINIONS on things affect them so much?!

How "whelmed" did you expect to be after a performance of a Backspacer song?

hi.... some of us on the west coast have not seen the show yet. thanks for the spoiler.

c'mon, you HAD to expect people would talk about it on the board ... no? If you really wanted to be surprised, you should of avoided the Porch. Not said to be mean, just honest.

This thread is all sorts of awesome. Can't wait to see where it goes.

wow.....i don't think i've ever been more underwhelmed by a PJ performance. why the FUCK didn't they go with force of nature????? could have packed such a punch! maybe it was th mixing (a la got some on conan) but i literally sat there feeling NONE of the raw power and beauty that unthought known carries on backspacer. i just think this was poor song choice given the platform. on national TV you've GOT to go heavy....im even thinking GSMF would have been a good choice. maybe i'll get burned for this but man that was not impressive at all!

....just my opinion and I still love them.

The mix did suck, and Eddie played a little sloppy at the end (he had a broken string afterall) hitting the wrong chord at the beginning of the final verse coming out of the bridge. I thought they did a good job though.

hi....then don't read the threads until you have. thanks for playing.
  • I'm replying to my post first. . . I think it will. And I think we'll all be getting our dose of "Down" at most of the shows. . . great song. . . not complaining by any means. I especially think Ed will have something to say about Howard Zinn at the Boston shows. . . I am taking for granted that there will be more than one. Boston is the bands favorite place to pay after all. . .

they have pj sitting back stage twiddling their thumbs while they carry out yet another disastrous skit?>

i'm reminded why i've only watched snl twice in the last 5-6 years..

(can you guess the other time?)
i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam

well, a simple youtube search yields better versions of this beautiful song. i've got a 7.1 surround sound system too.....so im not wanting for technical ability here.

The post 2nd song skits have been deplorible.

What's up with the recent trend of making fun of Indian folks?

    I would have played:

    1. The Fixer [for obvious reasons; it's the single and the catchiest thing on the album]
    2. Amongst the Waves [anthemic song, sounds great, with a cool guitar solo, what's not to like?]

Does anyone else think unthought unknown is another wishlist? Both great songs but sound the same. Unthought just has ed playing two more chords.

Believe me this is really hard for me to say but Just Breath, Unthought Known - just totally weak. Maybe it's just me but I hope they come out and play something else and redeem themselves.

Nothing like 1994. Again, I think eveything thing they do is good. But this is not!

don't get me wrong, i LOVE UK, especially stone's small fill going into the quiet outro, but i just have to say....

Force Of Nature is THE song from backspacer. I've played the album all the way through for about 10 of my non-PJ friends and they all agree that this is the ONE song they absolutely love...hands down.
