This is freaking disgusting. As an American I can't believe shit like this happens in "The Land of the Free". My favourite part is:

The decision was made, the board of education said, "taking into consideration the education, safety and well-being of our students."

Safety? Well Being? Education? Who is safer due to the fact that two girls can't go to prom together? What is learned by this? My prom last year was a blast! I can't believe it's taken away from students because people are uncomfortable with a lesbian couple.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V

  • Yeah... two teenager girls slow dancing could start a riot.

Jesus Christ, can we just get a bunch of helicopters, air life that whole state into the middle of the Atlantic and drop it in?

Shouldn't it be safer with the lesbians? I mean that is two less girls to possibly get knocked up at the prom.

You'd think that would be the case. I'm glad I live in a progressive city.

  • meh... there will always be people stuck in a time-set that is 2 generations old.

Then there are some who have become unstuck in time* and are 2 generations ahead. We're called cynics or ideologists depending on our mood.

me and my redneck way's and ideas will stay away from this one, I have dated bi-sexual women and lived with
a couple prostitutes for a few year's and it's never as easy as it seems, there's always baggage and different
    idea's from all parties.

i dunno man... you've made that sound kinda appealing to folks on here.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

My prom was organized by the students without the school. Still, I think its crazy that they would even CONSIDER canceling it.

have your opinion, but what i said is true throughout american history.

look at this situation for what it is. they are disciminating against the 2 lesbians, and as a result are punishing every one of the students. fucking redneck state...

What the hell is going on in this country first they kick God out of schools NOW LESBIANS!!! Say it isn't so! And both are not allowed just because a few people are uncomfortable!....Next thing you know they will be deleting history from text books and not allowing illegal aliens in school! What will we do!!!

I just read this on some news site. That is so wrong!! I think anyone should be able to bring whoever they want. Lots of people bring siblings, moms, etc and nothing is ever said. The girl could've ;ied about who her date is, but she told the truth and is now told the date cannot attend. BS!!

Her school should do a protest with a boycott.

Two completely separate issues. God shouldn't be in school because of the first amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". In a publicly funded institution, God has no place there, unless one is happy covering all religions, including the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

Having someone bring their girlfriend to prom is not against the law, where one can make the argument that bringing religion into a publicly funded classroom is.

Canceling the prom will mean that the gay girl will face the wrath of some disappointed students. Very irresponsible for the school to create such a situation.

Or maybe, just maybe, there are the same amount of gays there have always been, and we now live in a culture where it is more acceptable to be open and honest.
