What do you think you're the teacher or something? Haha, this has always been a pet-peeve of mine on message boards; people who pose a question in a thread title and then only say "discuss" or "debate" in the post. But they don't state their own freakin' opinion on the subject! Hey, Mr. InHidingInOttawa, can I go to the lav after our debate assignment?
You tell me your opinion of the setlists and I'll tell ya mine.
I just used the fanclub tallies so ed solo shows are not included, nor are some presets.
So why was Ed's preset used in that instance? FAIL
I think that the Bonnaroo set was better because they defintely won some fans last night. Oh wait......most of the fans here don't like the idea of Pearl Jam have new fans.

becase the official tenclub site lists it under the show's setlist that is why
so PASS
dude take your cynicism about fans on the pit somewhere else
Yep, I think they were both great. The Vic was an awesome experience I was glad to be in attendance for. And Roo definitely surprised me last night.
But I have to admit my alltime fav setlist is neither of these shows, but rather the Orpheum 4/12/94
Main Set:
Oceans, Even Flow, Sonic Reducer, State Of Love And Trust, Hard To Imagine, Immortality/(Hey Hey My My), Go, Animal, Glorified G, Daughter/(Suck You Dry), Alone, Not For You, Better Man, Rats, Blood
Encore:
Release, Tremor Christ, Once, Fuckin' Up, Dirty Frank, Yellow Ledbetter, Jam, Rearviewmirror, Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, I've Got a Feeling
- Vic very cool because it was 100% ten club. I am a cubs fan and Someday we will go all the way was wild.
- Bonnaroo very cool and better for the following reasons.....
1. Great mix of rare songs (all night, hard to imagine, WMA, etc.) for the ten club types.
2. Nailed the "best hits" for the 70,000 non ten club fans that are now exposed to what we all know is the best band ever.
3. Diverse crowd that was not busy debating the artistic virtues of No Code vs. Riot Act. Just thousands of people there to see a great show with an open mind..... and they loved it. People I camped near were saying it was top 5 shows they had seen..... ever.
That is why Roo was better than the vic (in my opinion)
bit off-topic, but was anyone REALLY worn out by the time the VIC show started? I know I was..I was out there at 9am and it was like 100 degrees. And ive lived in Florida all my life. I bought an umbrella, chairs, etc...
And I 'd be lying if I said it didnt take away from the show a little bit. I didnt have enough energy to jump around as much as I wanted to.
Anyways..just a thought. The good thing is, I dont feel as anxious anymore about being up close when I goto PJ shows, ever since the VIC and the ten feet I was from eddie and the boys. I dont think i'll ever have that intimate experience again with my favorite band. Now I just go and have a good time wherever I sit. I'll never forget it. Ever. (Even though I was exhausted) :-)

that gave me chills. i love the idea of new people being turned on to pj.
i have to go with roo. that setlist was such a shocker...and there's something to be said for 70,000 people (or whatever it was) singing along with you.
if you were at the Vic show, there is not debate. Bonnaroo setlist will most likely be repeated somewhat during PJ's tour. I expect DC or MSG to be pretty good.
"Music, for me, was fucking heroin." eV (nothing Ed has said is more true for me personally than this quote)

ROO - wins
Release in the encore, and h2i as opener. That does it for me.
now MSG and the tweeter has a game on their hand in being THE show of the tour. They really need to burst out songs like: imortallity, breath, in my tree, indifference, no way and undone to match roo.

looking at all that The VIC is clearly the winner by song rarity, however Bonaroo may go down as the most surprising show ever
Both had some awesome common songs, both pulled out some great covers, both pulled out some rarely played things (5 or under), both were amazing from any way you look at it. Should the Venue determine this if all else is even? If so you have to go with the VIC
I was there(VIC), not at roo, and I'll damn well say roo is dead even and I wish the fuck I was there
This is the correct answer thanks for summing that up for me Both shows completely amazing setlists and I would kill to see WMA and Who You Are. BUT the Vic had Rats, Undone, Down, I'm Open, Hard to Imagine, arguably the best fucking In Hiding ever, and so much more. It IS a tough call but the Vic wins the setlist challenge.
Having not heard the Roo yet I can't say what the better show was. There IS more to a show than the setlist in my opinion.

I agree...that echoed my thoughts exactly!

Ahh, the setlist debates. Stupid, but kind of fun.
The Vic is the hands-down winner (and that is with the PJ setlist . . . add in the Ed pre-set, and it is a runaway victory).
That said, I think I was very surprised by the Roo's setlist (I was expecting a Lolla repeat). I'm kind of kicking myself for not going. I'm ordering the CD because it seems like it will be a great listen while sipping a beer and lounging in my pool.
I still think the greatest setlist was Santa Barbara 03. It was the TOTD reunion show, for Jimminy Crickets sake!!! Can't be beat.
from an unbiased perspective, i wasnt at either show, the vic blows bonnarooo out of the water, still. They opened with fucking all or none, end thread.
yeah, until i hear roo, vic blows it away! WMA or no WMA, all night or no all night!
give me the experience of what i hear on that boot with all or none or in hiding over hearing WMA any day!
All I can say is that this is awesome The problem came in removing the pearl jam stage and loading the elaborate Kanye West stage setup.... but Pearl Jam went an hour over thier scheduled time.... Fuck YEAH! congrats people at BRoo, you got your freaking moneys worth!!!!
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
The Vic is far supreme, it's not even a contest. Not even counting Ed's pre-set, nobody's gonna win a setlist debate that features runs of:
Betterman > Black > Life Wasted > Crazy Mary > Porch
or
Animal > Even Flow > Daughter
C'mon. Having said that, though, Bonnaroo is by far the greater achievement for the band - possibly the greatest show they've pulled off IMO, certainly in this 'later' phase of their career. Shoot I'd almost written them off before this tour started, and I've been around forever
When hard-core lifers are babbling as much about the buzz as the 10s of thousands of others that were just equally blown away, that's impressive. Hard to overestimate what a killer event this was for the band, and not in small part by tossing up nailing a brilliant and beautifully varied setlist.

Good Point. This will go a long way in recruiting new and fresh troops.
