Dude i sat in sec 32 row a at MSG, that's 2nd row behind the goal and that little girl was crying all game...and if you're saying he's not a crybaby, then why was it that Gretzky had to have a talk with him about crying?? Whatever man, I get it, you're a pens fan to.

he was crying to his teamates, the officials and on the bench...shit I even saw him crying to the zamboni drivers...face it bro, he's a crybaby. Take a poll and see what everyone else thinks about Cindy.
  • ^you've said nothing

where is proof of this talk between sid and gretzky?

just cause you sit at a rags game once in a while is no proof that he's a crybaby

and if he's talkin to refs about play on the ice...again CAPTAIN!! JOBDESCRIPTION!!!
and fuck me if I say somethin you dont wanna hear, fuck me!
and fuck me if you only hear what you wanna hear
fuck me...if I care...but im not leavin here
  • and im not inte4rested in polling arbitrary hockey fans about sid, i already know what you all think...

its pure jealousy dude, admit it to yourself at least, then go ahead and blow-hard all over the interwebz

    lol... lighten up Francis.

Seriously though... he complained A LOT his rookie year, since then he's been the same as every other player in the league in terms of it. The fact that the camera goes to him on EVERY stoppage in play makes it that much more visible.

Does he get away with stuff... yeah, but he takes a lot of abuse that doesn't get called either. He always goes into high traffic areas and gets his share of uncalled high sticks and slashes. He does "play the game right", he works every shift in all three zones, and doesn't shy away from physical hockey at all.

I get the hatred that he has been shoved down every hockey fan's throat, even as a pens fan I cringe on the NBC games at the announcer's attention they give him... there are so many great young players in the league, and they should showcase all of them. But, if you can't separate that marketing crap from enjoying watching a highly skilled player play hockey, then you've got some issues. It would be like hating Nirvana in the 90's because the media whored out Cobain and put him on EVERYTHING related to grunge or the music industry.

The players being checked need to be accountable too! Most (not all) of these head shots are because the player with the puck put themselves in a vulnerable position.

As a longtime coach of the game (15 years at all levels), I would be upset if my player didn't finish his check.

If you don't keep your head up after that many years of playing at an elite level you deserve to have your bell rung, this isn't your first year of body contact.

I don't like seeing any player leave on a stretcher but I bet he doesn't cut across the middle of the ice with his head down again. At some point one of the guys who gets checked needs to admit on camera "wow I'm an idiot to think I wasn't going to get hammered while I admired my pass while cutting through the middle of the ice in the defensive zone."

I've been involved with hockey for 17 years (sons) and I like good hard checks as much as the next guy. What about a scrum in front of the net, everyone is looking down, is it OK to smash their heads with your shoulder? Afterall his head was down right? Was Savard cutting across the middle with his head down? I don't think so. He was in the slot pretty much stationary taking a shot. Cooke's hit was BS and the only reason he didn't get suspended is beacause he plays for Pitts. Guaranteed if that was Crosby laying on the ice Campbell and Bettman would have been on the phone in seconds, Crosby is THEIR future.

The problem is with the idiots that feel they have to wipe someone out to be part of the game. A hard check is one thing, trying to injure is another. All these pussy players who cheap shot without fear of having to fight is bullshit. I hope Crosby gets legally hit like that on Thursday, then you'll see what the NHL will do.....

as someone said on the first page the reason the b's held back on cooke was that they knew it was a legit hockey play with an unfortunate outcome

i hate to see guys get hurt but it is a fast and violent sport. every fan knows that, every player too

The reason they didn't retaliate is because my beloved Bruins have turned into wussies :(

Fast and violent it is but cheap shot shit shouldn't be in the game. Back in the day they used to settle it with a fight but now these guys just wear their visors and hide behind the instigator rule.

and i challenge you to find and produce here ONE actual clip or interview where sid is complaining about a call or a player or whatever...and i dont mean the kind of back and forth that every player gets involved with

i mean if you say he's a crybaby then prove it

i call him a cry baby for this reason.

    http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcspor ... n_ice.html

he is a great player but come on with this.

If Matt Cooke doesn't finish his hit in this instance then he's out of a job. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just speaking as a coach. At the NHL level Cooke has to earn each and every second of every shift.[/quote]

You coach house? Seems that you can't differentiate between clean hard check, and dirty, cheap shots...the game is the best in the world - no need to go head hunting for any reason. If Cooke can't do anything but head hunt he should be out of the game, nuff said.

    this is spot on imo

if you were around for gretzky and lemieux ... it was no different ... the guy is a star player - he's gonna get more attention than the average guy ... that means way more cheap shots and extracurricular crap ... he's got every right to complain ... that's how he ends up getting more calls ...

ALL the great ones in every sport complained and they ALL got the calls ...

Well said! I hate Crosby for the sole fact of Bettman/NBC feeding us nonstop Syd...No other reason.

    i dont get it

to complain about something that in reality people do for him all the time. throwing hats for a hat trick in tradition in the NHL and for him to complain about it is petty and childish. again great player but thing like that are just bad.

I agree with that... probably just frustration and wanting to get the game back going, but yes, it made him look bad.

John Tortorella has listed Sean Avery as a healthy scratch tonight for "lack of engagement"

If you don't play the game that is expected out of you at the NHL level you'll find yourself in the pressbox or out of a career.

There's a reason why players like Cooke, Burrows, Ott, Perry, Downie, Neil, Lemieux, Samuelsson, Tikkanen, Linesman, Clarke are/were in the league. Every team hates them and every team wants them.

You can argue with me till your blue in the face but the players as I listed above will always have spot on a roster if they are willing to do their job.

I would say for a fourth line player 13 goals, 13 assts, for 26 points in 65 games is pretty solid.

    I'm not a Pens fan...

You got it neutron. Dude has nothing but you and sid are gay insults. some people never really leave 5th grade. Jealousy is a bitch. He'd be smelling sid's jock if he played for ny.

And watch out Bruins fans, Cooke fought r neidermayer tonight and smoked him. Tell Lucic to get ready. (joking)

Chris, you sort of make my point - Cooke can do more than just head hunt apparantly. I guarantee you if he didn't have those points he'd be out of the league. I totally get the tough, physical aspect of the game but dirty albeit "legal" hits to the head just don't cut it.
