Just got an email from My Live Nation rep for Montage Mountain in Scranton PA. I have season pass for all the events. In the email he has all confimed acts so far. After the "confirmed list" it has a "in works list" which has Pearl Jam listed. I will try to get more info from him. Keep ya posted!

Ok I know nothing about this place (is it a venue or a ski resort?) or Scranton....but seriously Montage Mountain has to be the worst f-ing name I have ever heard for anything. :D

It's ski resport with a amplitheater. It's called Toyota Pavilion.

  • It's actually Sno Mountain now. PJ played there at Lollapalooza 2 in 92(first time I saw them). I would literally sh*t myself if this happens, as it is practically in my backyard. :o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

P.S. Scranton is about 1 hr 45 minutes north of Philly.

    Journey Ends:
  • If PJ ends up coming to both State College and Scranton, I will be the happiest fan alive.

Easy to see why with those locations.

You are the second person to pass along this rumour. A date would be nice
1996: Toronto 1998: Barrie 2000: Saratoga Springs 2003: Buffalo, Toronto 2005: Kitchener, London, Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto 2006: Toronto x2, Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Gorge #1 2007: London, Dusseldorf, Vic, Lolla 2008: WPB, Tampa, DC, MSG x2, Hartford, Boston x2, Beacon 2009: Toronto, Chicago x2, Seattle x2, LA #3&4, San Diego, Philly x4 2010: Cleveland, Buffalo, Hartford 2011: Montreal, Toronto x2, Hamilton 2012: Missoula 2013: London, Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Hartford, Dallas, OKC
  • This would be totally rad. Very nice drive up I-81 to Scranton.

I was there to see the Dead once, and you weren't allowed to drink in the parking lots. Strictly enforced. That's no fun. And getting out of the place...one little road going down the mountain. No fun either. But fuck, I've been hoping for a while Pearl Jam would play there.

Just got an email from him and the date saved is May 7th. So they must be deciding between Scranton & State College. Either way psyched!

  • That would be just great....the morning I leave NYC to Bahamas on a cruise.

Interesting, so we won't get both. Here's to hoping that they go with State College (I prefer indoor venues)

  • I hope they book Scrantonicity as the opening band. Kevin is a badass on drums!!!
"Darkness comes in waves, tell me, why invite it to stay?"
  • I've seen concerts at both and can say that Bryce Jordan Center is FAR superior to Montage Mountain. I also think Pearl Jam is simply too popular a draw for Montage Mountain. If you are sitting under the "tent" you get a nice view and good sound. If you are on the grass hill, you get crap view and terrible sound. The traffic getting into and out of Montage sucks the big one and early May could still be a bit on the cold side for an outdoor amphitheater in Northeast PA.

Bryce Jordan Center is the better choice without a doubt and I live smack between the two. Let's hope PJ thinks so, too!

This place is truely a hidden gem. Been there twice, once for Lesh/Dylan and once for Uncle Neil. It's beautiful and there is great camping near by as well...
  • Nice. I retract my previous statement in the other thread. I think Dave always plays that venue (Ugh)

I saw PJ for the first time at Montage Mountain - Lollapalooza '92 so I guess by default it has a special place in my heart. It's like a former ski slope w/a stage at the bottom of it right? The place was crazy. I also remember the walk from the parking lot to the venue taking a LOT longer than i had anticipated and missed some of PJ's set. Memories...
I smile, but who am I kidding...
  • I live in Scranton now. I grew up near State College. I love The Bryce Jordan and prefer indoor shows. But I enjoy seeing them in new venues also. My vote is for Montage. But either way we win. Let's hope there is an announcement soon.

One factor that no one has considered is if they could have a hold on MORE THAN TWO venues on May 7th. For all we know they are deciding on one PA show and there is also a hold on the Mellon Arena ... ?

Very true! Just adds to the guessing everyone is doing?

  • I just don't get why at the very least, the 10 Club can't just say..."We are looking to do an east coast tour in May. Nothing definitely". At least let people know they are working on something. The shroud of secrecy is so fucking annoying.

Was there just a post that said this was confirmed? I can't find it anymore. It said this was confirmed and that fan club tix were reserved for the 100s and 200s. Is that in another thread?

There's only about 6,800 seats under the big top, so even if they are all reserved for 10C, that's only 3,400 pairs....

I'm just saying what I saw posted...Assuming he wasn't making it up, he obviously wouldn't mean every seat in the 200s. Since the post is now gone, either he erased it or it was deleted by the mods....

This is a good news, bad news thing from my point of view. Good to see that the tour appears to be a go, bad to see that this city/venue beat out State College for the May 7th show. Here's to hoping that SC get a show on the 8th instead :)

For what it's worth, it takes me about 2-2hrs15mins to get to State College from Scranton, Philly takes about 1hr45mins-2hrs, depending on Surekill Expressway traffic. I'd say it's a Wash.
