apparently, Jake, 6 runs in 1 2/3, Peavy was "not hitting his spots today"

Its the first start of the year. Peavy will be fine. Whole team looks bad but Bochy has been resting older players. He wants Tomlinson to get lots of playing time at ss to determine if he can be the backup at that spot. I will reserve any judgement until 2nd round of starts of pitchers which is Tuesday. I will get to see Shark pitch on Tuesday with my own eyes. I saw him last year with the Sox against the Cubs and Shark got shelled.

Mac Williamson is earning his way onto this team to start spring training. I was hoping he or Parker would push Pagan into a 4th OF role. It would be better for Pagan and we could use some youth into the OF.

Went and saw the Giants tonight. What a great game (they won 16-7)

-Madbum had some control problems but we are early in spring training still, he should be fine.
-Panik looks like he got even better. Dude will hit .320 with 200 hits and makes his second all star game this season.
-Tomlinson is not a ss. He can fill in for Crawford here and there but he doesn't have the footwork for ss. He made some routine plays look hard. He got it done but he can't play there for an extended period.
-Arroyo will be a star soon. I don't know where we will play him since he is blocked by Panik at second. They have one more year to figure it out. He shredded the AFL and now is shredding it early in spring. I worry Duffy was a fluke so Arroyo could take 3rd if needed and may be the better long term solution there.
    - Williamson and Parker will be a nice set of replacements for when Pagan and Blanco leave after this season. Parker has big time power. He crushed another one tonight. He will also strike out 150 times which is why I see Williamson taking the LF spot from Pagan next season. Better all around player.

Only disapointment was I didn't get to see Black pitch. I wanted to see this 104mph fastball myself.

I thought you were there - it was fun to watch the game, we popped in and out. Arroyo looked like a stud. He's only 20? Damn.

I am getting a little worried about the pitching myself. The one guy who was doing well in Blackburn got sent down to the minors.

I was reading yesterday Williamson will probably not make the squad straight out of camp which would be a shame. Dude is raking and deserves a major league roster spot.

I mean, I know it's only spring training, but who would ever think a game in which Madison Bumgarner & Jake Arrieta start against each other would end up 16-14?!

MadBum is saying don't look at the results and understand all is well and he will be his normal self. We will see.

With Shark I do know not to look at the results. Giants are helping him with his delivery focusing on 1 pitch at a time. First pitch was his splitter which is his out pitch. Shark got a few strikeouts and some ground balls off of it last outing and the Giants and he are moving on. Last season he was leaving that pitch up in the zone when he was trying to get it down and it kept getting hit out of the park. Shark says same thing, don't look at the score. He isn't pitching right now caring about the score. He cares more about location and timing.

Cain though is done. I feel for him but he is done.

    Opening Day!

Giants were 1 of 3 teams to exit the spring with nobody on the DL. Bochy says he is happy and the internal goals set by the team for spring were all met. It is believed Mac Williamson will be called up soon when they drop the 13th pitcher. I hope so as I think he is our next out of nowhere player that comes in and beats expectations.

Span, Panik and Posey with a back to back to back! Every starter with a hit so far. Great start to a season.

Don't worry about MadBum who's start was so so. Dude has the flu.

E, this offense is for real. Better than the Bonds/Kent era when you look at them 1 through 8. I don't think Pagan survives the season but Mac Williams will fill in nicely when he goes down. I still have doubts on the starting pitching.

Giants sign Belt to a 6 year extension (this season is part of the 6) for 75 million. I love that they reward their own and are trying to setup a long term winner.

as long as both your two hits are long balls, you're good to go

I like the extension, too.....this approach has paid proven dividends unlike the barry and a bunch of vererans approach. hell, rich aurilia had to sit behind dunston and rey sanchez.

thank god, the fat "one of our own" didn't want the giants $$$.

It also shows Posey means it when he says he is not coming out from home to 1st anytime soon. You can always convert Belt to the outfield but that loses his near gold glove defense. If it wasn't for Goldschmidt he would have a couple by now.

I can't watch them right now. Spahn starts with a lead off walk, steals second and gets to 3rd with 1 out. He gets left stranded. Pence just needs to get 1 to the outfield and whiffs. Bad baseball right now. I just hope this gets fixed before we fall too far back.
