MadBum, Posey and Crawford all win silver slugger awards. Remember when we couldn't develop hitters at all? Only team to have 3 players win one and all 3 were home grown guys.

For Crawford that gives his the silver sluggeer and gold glove. He is about to get very expensive.

Ok, so thanks to the debacle at the kids schools movie nights I spent a lot of time reading team insider articles on the Giants. This is what I took from them. Plan is still Price or Greinke and then Leake as only big FA signings. Petit probably gets let go and Heston takes that spot as the long reliever/emergency starter.

So far as Ike Davis or Upton its all crap. Giants like Parker or Williamson to make the MLB club this year. Because of the emergence of Christian Arroyo (killing the AFL right now) one of the young infielders (Panik, Arroyo or Tomlinson) gets moved for a legit starting LF with some power. Blanco splits center with Pagan and Parker or Williamson gets the 5th outfielder spot.

No moves for the pen either. They will fill Afeldts spot with a young kid from the minors.

Fuck yeah he did. Every estimate I saw was 5 years and over 100 million. He's the best all around short stop in baseball. The gold glove and silver slugger is the proof.

Hahahahahahaha. Miami is about to hire Bonds as a hitting coach. The same Bonds who refused to help any hitter on his own team while a player. This is no different than the Coyotes hiring Gretzky to coach or Jordan as an owner. Most of the time when a player is that great they can't teach lessor players how to do what they did. Those players don't possess the same skills as them. Normally the scrappy player who had to use every bit of talent they had to make it in the pros are the coaches.

Read Game of Shadows Wob. Great insight into Bonds during his roid years. He refused to help other players for a large part of his career. He was worried they would sign with another team and then help those pitchers against him. So he kept all his secrets to himself.

Now Belt has said working with Bonds the last two spring trainings was a big help. It may just be nice talk though.

I won't read Game of Shadows. To quote halifaxxx (talking about Brady), "It's lies, I tell you! all lies!"

I had heard he would talk about seeing seams, seeing spin, etc. and other players would just be, like, "whaaaaat?"

47-61 with a 4.09 ERA lifetime is worth $18mil a year? I'm in the wrong fucking profession.

Now you have MadBum and a bum.

I assume the Leake contract will follow shortly as well. This has been backup plan all along. I didnt want all that dead money on the back of Greinke's deal but this is not much better.

They had a deal on the table for Carrasco. It was Belt and Panik. Arroyo can take second base over easily and you could have tried Susac at first. Tomlinson also played decent or Panik last season so you had a backup plan there. Much better than this shit fest.

But who knows, maybe Righetti can pull a Bosio/Arrieta with Shark. He does have that one game out of every 7-8 where he's just on that night. If he could just learn to harness that more often than throwing like it's BP.

Leake is as good as gone. Giants want to sit on the starter market through the winter meetings and scoop someone up at the end that got left out of the big deals. Between Heston, Beede and Blackburn they feel they have young depth for the back end of the rotation and don't want to shell out large bucks for a guy. Heston probably takes that Petit role so it is between a FA, Beede or Blackburn to earn that 5th spot in spring training.

LF is priority and hearing it will probably be Upton, Gordon or Zobrist. Evans said they still have cash for one more big signing. Zobrist visited team yesterday.

I'm not giving up on Leake. Leake and Gordon would make me happy. I'd settle for Wen (is that his name?)

Leake is pretty much gone. Evans stated yesterday they would love to sign him but are now taking their time. There are so many starting pitchers still out there they are waiting to see who doesn't get the big payday that the Giants might be able to scoop up at a discount. Same with Left Fielders. They like Heward and Gordon the most but don't want to shell out 100mil+ for either. I would rather they go out and try and land another starter and let Parker/Williamson duke it out for the LF spot. Loser becomes the 5th outfielder. So pretty much the word coming out of the winter meetings by the Giants is much different than the reporters who were saying yesterday the Giants are getting closer to a deal with Gordon and are seen by teams as the favorites to land him. Yesterday CarGo came up and Evans said Rockies don't seem to have an issue trading him in-division. That would be better than giving 32 year old Gordon 20mil a year on a 5 year deal.

I think I agree on the OF. Was it just last year they seemed to have a ridiculous amount of OFers and then got so decimated they had to get Byrd? So, you never know.

I am very excited for 2016. Hopefully the Giants don't try and sign someone for LF and let Parker and Williamson duke it out. These last couple world series have been pushed using home grown guys for the most part and those 2 both have a ton of upside.

If anyone is coming out to Spring Training let me know. I work 2 blocks from the Giants spring training sites. I know you want to Rob. Last year we did a fun double header day and will be doing something like it again this year. Last year it was ChiSox at the Cubbies new place and then we shot over to the D*dgers digs (it is a dump) and watched Heston and the Giants clobber them in the night game. Great day of baseball and tickets to both games will cost you less than 1 regular season ticket.
