Odd ... it took me to move away from Boston for the Red Sox to finally win a World Series, they've won two since I moved out to Cali in August of 2004 ... my friends always rib me about it.

That said, since I've moved to San Francisco, the Giants have won two championships ... SFO loves me ... yes, I *am* the reason they are winning ... nothing else.

    Yo Rob ... congrats!

Congrats to the Giants and their fan base...
Question: Does Melky get a ring? He "helped" them get there 1st half of the season and with the dinger in the AS Game that got homefield, but since he wasn't part of the "run" and not on the roster, will he be given a championship ring? My Dad is a Giants fan and says absolutely, but I'm not so sure...
I also think its ridiculous that if you type "sf giants world series tainted" into google, over 146000 results show up...
    Must be Dodgers fans?
I wonder how all of this would have played out had Buster not got injured last year (3 in a row?)

Leland really is a gem, as are the rest of the Tigers.

Classy ball club. Not a single player, owner, management, or fan has said or acted in a way that would tarnish a great season.

"They're playing like the Giants play, and we expected that coming in. They're good. They're really good." - Tigers manager Jim Leyland ... game 2

On to the team in Black and Orange...

Any doubt Bochy should be manager of the year! Given the changes he HAD to make, and the options he had through the entire season... Stamp his card to the HOF.
-- Belt or Pill, kept them in the rotation long enough to figure out which one was going to shine first, and both had some really dull moments.
--Timmy... Never lost faith. Moved him where he needed to be.
--Cain, Zito, Vogey, MadBum. Okay, who could screw that up ;) (Valentine)
--Buster MF'in Posey-- My favorite and what a bad ass! I would still be whimpering from last years collision. Knows his aces and calls games like a veteran of 20 years, not 3. Will someday be a great manager. Bochy and staff kept his legs as fresh as possible with Sanchez/Whitesides stepping in.
--Melky... WTF. I admire his actions after being caught. Too bad he didn't realize that he is a stand up guy and didn't need the juice. What to to next year...
--Theriot-- 5 at/bats in the post season prior to last nights DH... Bochy sat Sanchez... Who scored last? Good move
--Pence-- I was stoked to see him move over in the trade, then had to admit he wasnt soo good at times, but I'll take him and his gangly, bug-eyed praying mantis diving catches goofy swing crazy ass rah rah pep talk sincere love of the game any day!
    --Pagan-- wow
    --Blanco-- wow
--Scutaro-- My choice for MVP of the series. Two 4-6-3's in game 3. The toughness. Hands down the best trade SF has made in years. Years. Hope they can keep him around.
--Crawford. Let him grow to near perfection through-out the season. Never looked beyond him during trade rumors. He' a keeper.
--Pablo-- No more Hamate bones to break Panda! You have broken them both now keep blowing bubbles and playing the hot corner like you have been! Thanks for my one and only souvenir from a WORLD SERIES MVP!!!
--Zito-- gotta mention him again. Zen.
--Cain-- better mention that perfect game.

    I could go on...

Great season. Actually got to see them 3 times this year, and their farm club Fresno Grizz twice, which is a big deal for a poor boy out in the sticks of Wyoming.

    Feels good...

    :)

    Another beard, another title!

So many great moments this post season! I know a lot of my friends and family don't 'get' baseball, but you have to be pretty lame not to enjoy the playoffs/series!

I wish I was in the city for the celebration. Hope you locals have a blast! GO GIANTS!

the sf chronicle does a thing called "deep thoughts, cheap shots and bon mots." not sure what a bon mot is (enkidu would know), but here are mine...

every single Giant made web gem quality defensive plays in this series. every single one. they were huge.

very glad it didn't get to game 5. I did not want to count on zito for another miracle.

I really didn't think we would win last night. I was fuming over cabrera's lazy fly which blew out, especially because the man on base had been struck out but the ump missed it :x . I was pissed again when cain let delmon fricking young take him deep.

god, our bullpen was awesome from the cincy series on. romo is a pleasure to watch. brian wilson is much more torturous.

Starting with leyland, the tigers are pretty much a class act (with the exception of delmon young). that said....what a bunch of fat fucks  . prince, cabrera, valverde, dotel, laird, delmon, coke. you could say "well, sure, but they made the WS." fact of the matter is, their collective tonnage hurt them.

I truly believe ANY NL team in the playoffs could have beaten ANY AL team that made it. the tigers, for one, had a decent season, but they beat oakland by getting two verlander starts and the yankees sucked. if not for an EPIC white sox collapse, the tigers don't even get in. personally, I'm glad I can stop hearing about "the world's greatest pitcher" and "the triple crown winner."

bochy, again, pushed all the right buttons

among position players, only posey played a significant role in the 2010 postseason. pretty amazing. this team will change drastically again....I would let melky go. not sure if we are obligated to offer pence arbitration...his numbers (mostly put up in philly) will make him some big bucks. I'm also unsure about brian wilson....who knows if he will ever be the same? I'm not 100% sure that romo can close for an entire 162 game season. we shall see how timmy fares next year....he will be a FA after the season  . belt and crawford are only going to get better  . I'd like to see pagan come back....I hated to see torres leave but that trade was a total winner for us. marco will probably have to be overpaid (see: ross; huff) but you gotta bring him back.

I'm sure more thoughts will occur to me when the fog in my head clears. October started with PJ and I was basically drinking all month. Time to jump on the wagon and start treating my body a bit better!

P.S. hey norm - did you happen to read plaschke's article in the times? I can post a link if you need one :shifty:

    Ha! I love that photo!

I respect Verlander and Cabrera, but am happy that I don't have to hear 'the best this' or 'the best that', as well.

Can anyone in SF pick me up todays Chronicle? I can trade some burned bootlegs and some PJ stickers.
