i will take my deficit any day over the economic destruction of my country. had it been mccain or your girl palin employing the exact same strategy are we to believe that you would be singing a different tune??

I don't get why people don't understand that when nobody is spending money and the economy is sinking into a vast hole, the govt. needs to step up to counteract the lack of consumer spending. he signed a bill (which many economists think was actually too small) to get people working on basic infrastructure projects such as roads to get some people back to work and to help states from going bankrupt. All i seem to hear from the right and the hard right is that we need tax cuts for big businesses so we can go back to what bush did...how does this make sense? Obama cut taxes for the middle class and wants to raise taxes on people who make a shitload of money and can afford to take on a bigger tax and still live comfortably...you know 7 gop senators including mccain were all for a bipartisan congressional comittee on deficit control and actually co-sponsored the bill. obama gives his state of the union and endorses it yet those same 7 senators voted against it. there are some basic economic policies that he's trying to push yet people seem to think it'll just hurt the country further. how does this make sense for the gop and people like palin to blast these plans? and don't mention pork spending which only makes up 1/2 a percent of our budget....unlike health care which takes up 1/6..she's not smart, doesn't know economic or foreign policy and needs to step out of the spotlight. then i'll quit my bitching about her.

Most economists I read think it was too small and won't help the economy all that much in the long run because of it. Can you imagine the uproar if it was bigger?

Not that you would have noticed but I started several threads on his esclation of the the war in Afghanistan, bringing the troops home, his inability to close Gitmo and his support of the use of nuclear energy to name a few. I'm sure that won't suffice but I don't really care.

  • Sarah Palin as the GOP nominee = a 2nd term for Obama. Plain and simple, she is not what this country needs. And I think Obama is the worst president in US history, so that should tell you what I think of Palin. Notes on her hand? Ridiculous. Everything she says has been said soooooo many times before, all the ranting against "elites" etc etc etc.

Now, just to play devils advocate, look at the 2 tickets from 2008. Sarah Palin was the ONLY one on EITHER ticket with ANY experience in running anything larger than a political campaign. So if you want to go be experience, technically she may have been the most experienced candidate on either ticket, as far as being a chief executive is concerned, considering she ran a city and a state...but that doesn't equal qualified in my mind (I think BO was/is unqualified for the job also). McCain and Biden clearly had the resume's for the job.

I should have put Palin on my list of people I want to go away in that thread :D

i stopped reading your post when you said "obama is the worst president in us history".

really, how old are you and how well do you know your history? after only 13 months he is worse than van buren? worse than grant? worse than garfield? worse than andrew johnson? worse than reagan? worse than gwb???

you should really think about things before you make statements like that...

I really don't appreciate the implication that I don't think. Maybe my judgment is a little premature, but this first year has been a disaster on every level. At least GWB got of to an OK start before he F'd things up.
I can admit it's been a while (since college) since I studied Van Buren or Garfield or the details of some 19th century admins...but I can easily say worst in my lifetime.
Putting Reagan on this list? Really??? I'm 32, to answer your question, and Reagan is clearly, without question, the best president of my lifetime. I think both Bushes were below average (I would rank father as better than son), Clinton about the same as GHWB, Obama's only competition for that crown of worst would be Carter. We've lived a lifetime of generally shit presidents if you're in my age bracket.
Give Barack Hussein time, he has only been in office a year. Things are only going to get worse with this joker. If he gets a second term, I predict the dollar will collapse and we will look like the Weimar Republic.

Even though Obama didn't get my vote I'm digusted with ALL of them. you act as if after 13 months he was given a golden spoon to run this country and somehow he was going to fix it in less than the 13 months he's been office. It took 8 years to get things where they were last year it's going to take mighty longer time than 13 months to unfuck it. Do you somehow think a Republican administration would've fared better or are you just complaining?

Good question. I'm not just complaining. A McCain administration might have been slightly better on a few issues, maybe. A Ron Paul administration would have been significantly better. So I guess it depends on what type of Republican you are talking about, John McCain could easily be a blue dog Democrat. I'm more of a Libertarian.

What's up with your quote button click it?

I would've preferred a candidate such as Dennis Kucinich, however he wasn't given much of a chance. I liked his stance on the wars that are waging and his stance on health care, RP maybe but Dennis Kucinich was my choice. I don't think anything would be different under McCain maybe worse, I was hoping a republican would take on this mess because NOT too many presidents have come into office with this many problems and issues to deal with.

By the end of his Presidency President Obama's hair will be completely white with ALL that he has had to deal with. A job I wouldn't have wanted for sure.

your post implies that you DO NOT think...to say a man is the worst in history after 13 months?? why not do a little google search and find out what i am talking about. if obama is the worst in history, you must be very young or very ignorant of the history of your own country....please give some examples for why the first year hs been a disaster on every level? everyone acts like our country is in the shitter right now, it is only because we are the leader of the free world and things are tough, things were much worse before we became a superpower...study your history and you will see how bad it has been before now. at least we are still one country and are not fighting each other in the streets...but with the obama hatred becoming hysterical these days i think we might not be far from it. i mean, texas was talking about secession less than a year ago...likewise, what was so great about reagan? you are roughly my age and people our age liked him because he was "like grandpa". what did he personally do to be held in such high regard by you and people our age, who admittedly knew NOTHING of politics or world affairs back then? is it nostalgia, or was there something concrete that he did to deserve it?? if he was so great, wouldn'y he be on our money or something??

lastly, your predictions are quite scary, do you have concrete evidence of this? what other predictions do you have??

if you liked cuts to social services combined with a huge increase in military spending - reagan was your man!

throw in a bunch of covert ops in central america and the middle east and you got the perfect president for the military industrial complex ...

I remember Reagan as president but didn't pay much attention back then. I was pretty young, or young enough where I didn't care. But didn't Reagan cut taxes and cut government spending to a level that we have never seen before or since. Personaly I feel that is what we need these days. Cut taxes enough where it's going to put more money in peoples pockets, therefore, people will spend more which will help in the economy, and then of course...cut government spending drastically.Just my opinion.

trickle down economics does not work. it has been proven. tax cuts do not work. he cut them to the lowest rates i nhistory and don't you think that that has something to do with why we are in this situation today?

Yeah unfortunately no one had the balls to raise them again...except for Bush I....and look what happened to him

that's why I believe our country is destined to fail...anyone who wants to fix anything won't get voted in
and if they do get voted in, members of congress are either too partisan or too chickenshit to work with them...

oh no, sarah is a victim again....seriously if you want to be perceived as a strong leader you have to stop with the phony outrage....the more often you complain and cry, the more you come off like a whiney little baby... if you are a public figure you are open to satire or ridicule, look at south park after all these years, still doing what they have always done...i am guessing family guy is going to keep up with the shots at her now...

Palin lashes out at `Family Guy'

JUNEAU, Alaska – Sarah Palin is lashing out at the portrayal of a character with Down syndrome on the Fox animated comedy "Family Guy."

In a Facebook posting headlined "Fox Hollywood — What a Disappointment," the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and current Fox News contributor said Sunday night's episode felt like "another kick in the gut." Palin's youngest son, Trig, has Down syndrome.

The episode features the character Chris falling for a girl with Down syndrome. On a date, he asks what her parents do.

She replies: "My dad's an accountant, and my mom is the former governor of Alaska."

Palin resigned as Alaska governor last summer.

Palin's oldest daughter, Bristol, also was quoted on her mother's Facebook page, calling the show's writers "heartless jerks."

"When you're the son or daughter of a public figure, you have to develop thick skin. My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent," she is quoted as saying.

"If the writers of a particularly pathetic cartoon show thought they were being clever in mocking my brother and my family yesterday, they failed," Bristol Palin added in the Monday posting. "All they proved is that they're heartless jerks."

Palin wrote that she'd asked her daughter what she thought of the show and Bristol's reply was "a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question: When is enough enough?"

This isn't the first time Palin has spoken out over an attack, real or perceived, on her family. Last year, she condemned a joke David Letterman made about her daughter, for which he later apologized.

A "Family Guy" publicist didn't immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.
