I've only done a couple trades here, always scared, and really I don't sell PJ items, I keep them. But I did just do a very smooth transaction with member Ample Jar, went great, I got Kenyan Hall poster and he got my ITW vinyl. Was crazy, I mailed on Saturday he got Monday!!
I did also look at amount of posts, and read many before doing trade, always worried.
I got this guy some Vedder tickets for the 1st Toronto show.
Probably could have sold them for a few bucks but I thought I would do someone a favor ....
Anyways he is gone now and his mailbox is full ...hmmmm ...
Its been a while so I thought I would post this so no one else gets screwed.
Not really about the cash .... Just about honesty.
lockedinthetrunk, by the way his name Kyle ....
I am not a big enough Jerk to give his full name and address ...but who knows ????

this is another one!!!
i would only trust
a) people i've met and from the UK as then i can hunt them down
and
b) people with shitloads of posts and have a good track record with other people
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.
i traded my Kenyon Hall for a DC '06 with BenInTacoma.I was very nervous because i'm not a very trusting person and this was a major trade but it went smooth and we both held up our end of the deal. so while there are dickheads out there you can't let them turn you bitter because there are so many cool PJ fans that they out number the assholes.
i am in the midst of negotiating a trade as we speak and am quite nervous. someone finally contacted me with a Binaural LP and is interested in my Ames Hawaii 06' i recently acquired from the mystery sale. we'll see what happens.
I have done a couple of deals around here - I have also left myself pretty exposed and went on faith once sending out tickets. Happy to say it all went well and I sincerely believe the vast majority of regulars around here are solid people. Obviously you need to be aware who you are dealing with. It is a great idea to check someone's posts out and see what kind of person they appear to be. The post history can be very telling...
It's true that there are some jerks here -- and everywhere else -- who will be dishonest when it comes to trades.
But, most people on here -- regardless of the number of posts on the board -- are very trustworthy.
I've traded away a number of different things of a wide range of values (everything from posters to vinyl to boots) to people with lots of posts and people with very few posts and have never been screwed once.
I think the bottom line is that when you decide to engage in an informal sale or trade with someone you have never met before, it's going to be a risk no matter what. If the thing you are trading/saling is of great value to you, then make sure you take necessary precautions first -- like asking the other person to send first, or requesting a delivery confirmation/insurance number, or even drawing up an agreement in writing before sending out your item.
And I would be in favor of creating a "good trader" list here, but only if it is accompanied by a "bad trader" list. It would be blacklisting a number of honest people who just haven't been here long enough to pull a trade list to assume anyone not on a "good trader" list shouldn't be traded with.

do not post his name or personal info
that aint cool man
ok to say so and so burned me in a deal, but posting personal info is a no no
Theres nothing wrong with posting his name. Its not like that is private info that someone can use. If the guy wants to screw someone over then he should realize his name could be attached to his actions. Is it better to just never say anything and pretend it didn't happen? Hell let's not even post the username of someone who srews another person over then.

Never said that we shouldnt be made aware that someone got burned or that someone is an untrustworthy trader etc.
I sort of have a little problem with the number of posts reflecting the character or honesty of the person behind the screen name.
I dont have a ton of posts but most of them are more than the word "bump".
I read a ton of shit on here and respond to a very small portion, thus my post count does not accurately reflect my "time investment" on the pit.
I have had a number of transactions with a handful of different pit members, and have never had even a small snag. From requesting merch, both in the states and from the Euro tour, getting posters to peeps that were shut out, b&P (mostly at the site next door), selling posters from the too extensive to frame collection... Never once have I had a bad experience.
I just hope that the keeper of the Karma Meter doesnt overlook me by my timidity to post.

i sent off my Kenyon Hall to a guy with way less posts than you and he was an upstanding guy.so the # of posts someone has doesn't really mean much.
Interesting looking at his profile. He registered around the time Eddie's tour was announced and disappeared pretty much immediately after the Massey Hall shows.
He made several requests for tickets online, checked out whether he could bring "party favors" to MSG, had a strong opinion that scalping is okay, made fun of someone who didn't like somebody selling bootleg shirts on Ebay, called board members geeks when no one would trade Kenyon Hall for Batman, had his wallet "stolen" so could only pay cash, and PMed two board members who were looking for tickets to Toronto after requesting tickets himself, then asked for tickets again after PMing the others who were looking. I think it all adds up to a scalper or a "broker" who ultimately brokered tickets to see multiple shows at other peoples expense. Unfortunately, he used the board to get prime seats and sell them for a mint, probably back to board members.

I almost got fucked by a pit member...bought a poster, it was destroyed and possibly a fake...used paypal though and was able to get my money back...there should be some type of feedback system since the honor system is worth shit...

there is some truth to that but not total truth.
