Who knows? You can't say that something doesn't exist just because you can't see it. Can you see radio signals or wireless internet service? You only know they exist because there is an end product you can hear, feel, see or touch. Just for grins, let's say that the "end product" of a ghost is to scare the hell out of living beings. In Shawshank's case, I'd say that whatever "it" was, it accomplished just that. He felt something out there in that field. He not only felt the hair on his neck stand up, he has a scary looking image that we can all "see" was out there on an otherwise clear night. I'm not arguing for or against the existence of ghosts, I'm just saying that it's not really logical to make an absolute statement about the situation one way or the other. The OP's intent was to hear other people's experiences and opinions.

I think it was Einstein who said something to the effect that intelligent people are the ones who realize that they know very little. Man only uses a tiny portion of the brain matter that's available to him. JMO but there's probably a lot out there that we're missing.

    and I gave my opinion.....they don't exist

if they do exist please prove it to us

You didn't get it. Please read what I had to say and consider it instead of just going off on people because they don't agree with you. YOU were the one making an absolute statement, a statement that is not logical given the fact that we can't prove or disprove their existence.

I think it is logical to say they do not exist.

If we want to argue that because I can't prove they don't exist then they could possibly exist then I would ask that we compile of list of other things that we can't prove that could possibly exist like invisible spaghetti people.

I'm not trying to be a jerk....but come on, logic would tell you that if ghosts existed we would be able to observe them on a regular and measured basis.

What causes a ghost/spirit to present itself? How often does this occur? What % of deaths result in a ghost/spirit formation?

When you consider the current number of people on the earth right now and then look at the number of people who have EVER existed that could possibly generate a ghost/spirit upon their deaths then you would have to admit that there would be millions of them. You could not drive down the street without seeing them all over the place.

So, in conclusion, I would argue that it is perfectly logical for me to say that they absolutely do not exist. And I would also say that proof is on my side. Otherwise, please take me to see a ghost.

I've always been interested in this subject....I've always said that if I could be convinced that ghosts exist then I could be more convinced of god or gods.

I'm not capable of taking you to see one, but I'm willing to consider that there are probably people somewhere who could. I don't imagine anyone with that particular skill advertises much due to the fact that people would make their life miserable.

There are books out there written by people who claim to have had all kinds of "other worldly" experiences. Are some of them charlatans, I'm sure some are. I'm guessing that the law of averages says that there are a few who had legitimate experiences.

Logic tells me that if ghosts exist, that they probably don't lend themselves to becoming tourist attractions. Logic also tells me that if they do exist, and someone encounters one, that it's probably a random occurence. There are TV programs dedicated to "ghost hunting" - although I've never watched one and have no reference point on the subject.

All I'm proposing is that someone, somewhere might be able to comply with your request. Unless you and I were acquainted with every single person in this country, or the world, we couldn't unequivocably say that it doesn't happen. I can't prove that they do exist, just as you can't prove that they don't.

I'd like to hear "experiences" that others have had besides the OP........ anyone??

when you approach death your brain is flooded with DMT, the most hallucinogenic substance known to man. You can buy the stuff (though it is hard to find) and smoke it if you want to know what it is like to die. Or just do a "heroic dose" of psilocybic or lsd. A "heroic dose" is the one where you think you are dead or dying for about 4 or 6 hours (a "bad trip"). For me, this is the only "trip" worth taking. Dissolve the ego...

Stop talking about it and see for yourself.
Yes, when my niece was dying the doc said her brain was at peace already. That is why she was talking so wierd. She slipped into a coma shortly afterwards, but yeah, the brain is not right.

what do you mean, "the brain is not right?" I think it is an evolutionary miracle that the pineal gland (your third eye, according to some of us... with this as its ONLY purpose) floods your brain with DMT at death. There are truly no words to describe how beautiful (and weird) this experience is! ;)
Her brain was flooded with something, the doc didn't call it DMT, but I don't remember what he said it was. He did say the brain does get less oxygen and does get this other thing and people hallucinate, etc. It ends up they die peacefully. I witnessed it myself and it was peaceful. She was talking all this weird stuff, but was okay.
