OK, I'm really getting sick of this shit. Chester has an awesome voice, even though I dislike Linkin Park a lot, he does have a great voice if you have ever seen a special on Linkin Park on TV or seen them live. The man trains his voice everyday for hours.
With that in mind, who cares? Eddie has taken some singers that aren't Cornell. Corin Tucker (Sleater Kinney) and Andrew Stockdale (wolfmother), although I LOVE their bands (especially wolfmother), their voices aren't anything close.
And for all you people bashing Cornell...he hasn't sold out. He's looking for a way to reach out to a new audience not just the people who remember him from Soundgarden or Audioslave. The man put on one of the best shows I've ever seen at Irving Plaza last year...maybe one of the top 5 shows I have ever been to for any band. His voice was back, sounded like it was 1992 again when he opened up with Say Hello 2 Heaven...playing Call Me and Dog and Can't Change Me?! I saw him again at Beacon and it was awesome as well.
It's funny because I don't think people on a Soundgarden, Audioslave, or CC message board would have flipped out because Eddie sang with different people for Hunger Strike
My advice...get the fuck over it

I googled "Chester Bennington's Whining Voice" and this was one of the first results. God obviously meant for me to unearth this thread for everyone to enjoy once more.
I still don't know whether to laugh or cry that this walking vagisil ad somehow ended up replacing Scott Weiland in STP. I know that some people from that band blamed it on his drug use, but um, the decision to hire Chessie couldn't have been made while anyone was sober.
What do I do when I have free time? Hmm, I google all the people I find annoying
I really like Linkin Park and was mildly obsessed with them for a brief period of time. But I would never see STP with Chester, I just don't think it's a good fit. I have nothing against him taking the gig though. I would, if they asked me (sadly they didn't).
As for the original video, I don't think it was terrible but I agree with whoever who said they should have switched. And I disagree that Chester is better than Ed. C'mon, man.

And finally, here's a song where both Chris and Chester shine. Thanks for reviving this thread and reminding me of this video
Gawd, Cornell is hot
