Apologies if this has been discussed before (I did a brief search), but do you like Backspacer as much as Avocado?

    I prefer Backspacer to S/T.
  • Backspacer by a leg...both quality albums.
  • I vote for Avocado.

ya i have to go Avocado.

the drumming on Unemployable, Marker plus rockers like Severed Hand and Comatose..even Life Wasted. Plus Inside Job...its just an all around more complete album to me.

Backspacer is also solid and I do enjoy it, but there are more songs on BS that i just legit skip each time. i cringe when i hear Just Breathe, The Fixer and The End. Although I will say the Fixer is a great song in concert.

    definitely Avocado
Life has nothing to do with killing time.
    So why be satisfied?
  • Avocado was in my truck cd player for more than 12 months - listened to it everyday - seemed like a real long time between Roit Act and Avocado - I love it

Backspacer has not been out as long but it is till in my truck cd player right now - I am sure it will be there till the philly boots get here so....

  • Avocado VS BackSpacer can be broken down as such:

    Group #1
    Life Wasted
    World Wide Suicide
    Comatose
    Severed Hand
    vs
    Gonna See My Friend
    Got Some
    The Fixer
    Johnny Guitar

    Group #2
    Marker In The Sand
    Unemployable
    Big Wave
    vs
    Amongst The Waves
    Unthought Known
    Supersonic

    Group #3
    Parachutes
    Gone
    Wasted Reprise
    Army Reserve
    Come Back
    Inside Job
    vs
    Just Breathe
    Speed of Sound
    Force of Nature
    The End

I honestly think when you stack them up cluster vs cluster they are very very competitive with one another - Avocado just comes out a tad bit ahead

  • My count so far is Avocado 9, Backspacer 7, with some ties. Backspacer beat Avocado in the "Rank the albums of the 00's" thread but I'm sure people's opinions change all the time. I know mine do.

Backspacer easily for me. Avocado never really "clicked" with me.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

    Avocado for me !!!

But I listen to them all ... :D
  • Avocado was good imo, but it didn't have any songs that reached the level of Unthought Known (top 10 all time in the PJ catalogue for me) or Amongst the Waves...possibly Come Back but it seems that most people on this board hates that tune :)

Backspacer...by a lot. And I liked Avocado but I didn't think the sequencing was good and there were too many songs. IMO, the record kind of fell apart after Unemployable.

Backspacer is exactly the kind of record I was waiting for. While agree on a lot of political issues w/ the band, I was ready for a more personal record. That's what this one feels like. And at 11 songs, and 36 mins, I think it is the perfect length (that's what she said).
