technically, the is now one Republican and one Democratic senator ... so, it's not Republican.

They've had a history of Republican governors ... although, the current governor is democratic.

I think this is more a strike against the shitty campaign of Coakley, at least, that's what I got from my freinds back east.

I guess she actually had an ad where she spelled Massachusetts incorrectly? WTF?

  • Did someone call Obama a "socialist"??? Really? Do you even know what a socialist is? Obviously not.

As bad as the Democrats are -- and Coakley's attempt to overturn the will of the Mass. people after they voted to decriminalize cannabis was despicable -- how anyone can support a party that has gotten us into two wars, shipped so many jobs offshore that one in five men is now out of work, is opposed to affordable healthcare, and put the country on the brink of another Depression is proof that we live in an Idiocracy. And arguing with someone like you, well, that makes me an idiot too.

I can't believe we like the same band.

  • Shocking that my state where 65% of the people voted to decriminalize pot now has a conservative Republican Senator. I think that the vote reflected a dissatisfaction with State politics more than national politics. The scandals and excesses of State politicians and employees have really made folks angry here. Also, it is strange that the voters elected someone who believes in tax breaks for the bankers who devastated our economy in order to protest the loss of jobs these bankers caused.

His election means that those who are going bankrupt from ruinous medical bills or are refused health insurance because of previous medical conditions will continue to suffer. Health insurance costs will continue to weigh down our economic recovery. The stock market went up yesterday in anticipation of increased profits for the insurance industry.

In Massachusetts 96% of the population now has health insurance. Is this a case of "I'm up, pull up the rope!"
Locally, in Western Massachusetts, the vote went for the Democratic candidate.

    IMHO

Coakley lost a lot of street cred when she didn't know who Curt Schilling was. She can have all the govt smarts in the world, but, right or wrong, when you don't know your sports folk heroes of Red Sox Nation (or Celts, Pats, or B's) then you appear to be out of touch with the state. This was a minor thing, but went a long way with the working class. Also, many 30-40 something males were NOT going to vote for a women when the opponent was a National Guard member. Finally, Coakley aligned herself with Obama, who in the eyes of many people up here in MA, hasn't followed through with his promise for 'change we can believe in'. Not entirely happy with the result, but not surprised either. The best man did win the election.
I love to turn you on

...also, the first time i heard an advertisement for Coakley, it was 2 weeks ago, and it was slamming Brown for his stance on rapists and aligning him with the Bush administration. Whoever thought that ad would work ought to hang up their politcal career...Brown has daughters for Christ sakes!!!

Brown responeded in kind by having his daughters ask for voters support and condoned the ads. Game, set, match.

 you don't have to lean one direction politically to like a band. open your mind dude.

you don't get it. its not a republican/democrat thing--they both suck. this is about people voicing their frustrations over the way their country is headed. independents ruled this election. not republicans. and they're not opposed to affordable healthcare  . a lot of independents just don't think now is the time to spend so much $$$$$$ on it when we're up to our eye balls with china's money already. liberals dont like this healthcare bill. conservative's don't like it. independents are not too fond of it. i see this as a good thing. bravo to mass.

IL should be following soon enough. I think it's good when area's flip flop between parties. Just look at Chicago where you have basically had the same party for what, 60+ years? You end up with corruption, highest sales tax rate in the nation, and unconstitiounal laws. then you look at the state level, and you end up with multiple governors either behind bars, or will be behind bars.

and then you run into a budget issue because of all the excess spending and what is the answer? that's right, more taxes and more spending.

i'll most likely never vote for a dem while living in this state.

liberal is just anouther word for taking away my rights and my money.

    that said, fuck em all
