That's 2 things that deserve complaining about. They are a professional band that gets paid tons of money to do something that is relatively easy for them.

After seeing them play in Adelaide Nov 17th 09, i walked away thinking how fucking lucky i am to be a PJ fan.
Well, they've played Adelaide (thousands of miles from home base) now 3 tours in a row while....
Arizona, New Mexico, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alaska, Indiana, Tennessee, NOrth Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansa, Kansas, Alabama, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, West Virginia haven't had shows since at least 2003. Plenty of other states have only gotten a festival or a half show with Tom Petty.
Maybe the bitching would stop if they toured more than just the east coast and west coast of the U.S.

I don't think they have flubs too often. Definitely not to the point to where I'd complain. Sure there have been notorious fuck-ups like Satan's Bed from State College '03 or even worse, Alive from San Sebastian '00. And Ed messes up the first verse of Immorality WAY too much, but overall I don't think it's a big deal at all. Don't get me wrong, it could be a bummer when you throw on a boot ready to jam Do the Evolution and when you try to sing along, Eddie is singing the last verse instead of the first...but such is life.
And as for the bootlegs, I'd rather they be presented with mistakes in tact than all churched up and edited.
Bootleg quality, setlists, show energy, flubs: these are just things to tak about when you are as into a band as we are about PJ. They've set the bar extraordinarily high. But that does not mean they are not human. I've come to expect a lot from them. Flubs can be funny....I never really complain about them. And a show without rare songs does not bother me at all. Bootleg quality can be inexcusable with today's technology and seeing as how PJ are bootleg pioneers, I think it's a valid complaint from time to time. And there's no law that says you have to love every song they ever make.
You can complain/vent about work, family, friends, the news, the weather, home repairs, etc....why not your favorite band? I love PJ's music, but that does not mean they can do no wrong 100% of the time in my eyes.

I'm not harrassing you, just disagreeing, which is as much my right to do as it's yours to criticize PJ. And what's with "Pro Bands," music is not like sports, what makes a band pro? Because they get paid? My band makes a few hundred bucks a gig does that make us Pro? We were paid, so are we pro? And why does it have to be perfect night after night? Does Kobe score on every shot? He's making way more than PJ, is he not trying hard enough because he misses the occasional shot? It's live music, it's rock and roll, it's not perfect. Impossible expectations lead to disappointment. I guess we can count on the fact you won't be going to anymore shows, wasting your hard earned money on such an un-professional band. You wouldn't want to be dissappointed if Ed forgets a lyric, or the band makes a mistake, then you wouldn't be getting the respect you deserve.
If you want to hear it perfect like on the cd every time then save your money and get some headphones. Then it can be all about you, which seems to be the way you want it to be.

When i started this thread i didn't expect it to turn out the way it has. I was just a little angry and expressed how i was feeling.
Anytime i have ever posted something in this forum it has always been a positive comment about their music, tours, boots and how much PJ gives to their fans.

i personally like when ed flubs a line or they mess up somehow. it's endearing. i love listening to the vegas 03 boot cause i was there, and every time ed fucks up last kiss and when he says that it is a testament to the wine...it makes my tummy all warm inside

Nobody ever bitches in their fanviews, other than as an aside when saying they were still awesome other than such & such minor thing... After just having seen them in the flesh, everybody is always blown away. If you've just seen & felt them putting everything out there musically & emotionally & ALL you take away is that Ed was out of tune on 2 notes that night, then you've got problems. I might have been a little disappointed about the ACL concert in spots while watching it at home, but if I was there, I would've been loving it; basking in their musical energy & appreciating how hard they were working even if it wasn't their best night. (& even in their worst concerts there are always going to be incredible moments that negate the other stuff)
Most of the bitching on here is probably frustration that sprouts from not getting ENOUGH PJ. (Where are my bootlegs? Why aren't they coming to play in my front yard? How come I didn't get front row seats?) So the bitching really sprouts from love of them & wanting more...
