    They played Glorified G and then after they finished Ed says "That song was written by one of our old drummers. . . He just didn't know he was writing it" He doesn't mention Dave A by name so I guess it could be about any previous drummer. :)

    "Glorified G" is an anti-gun song with lyrics mocking gun enthusiasts. The song was inspired by an incident in which drummer Dave Abbruzzese told the band he had just bought two guns which sparked a conversation about guns within the band. Vocalist Eddie Vedder about "Glorified G":

    I didn't actually write that song...I was at a band rehearsal and just started writing down these things the guys were talking about. The band were having this conversation and I just took down the dialogue. One of the band members had just bought a gun. It was the drummer, actually. Ask him about it.[5]

    Abbruzzese about "Glorified G":

    I told our manager that I just bought a coupla guns and he told Jeff, and at rehearsal Jeff kinda blurted it out. And Eddie went, 'Whaaaat, you bought a GUN?'     I don't see the problem with owning/firing a gun. It hurts no one.

    I'm a vegetarian; don't even wear leather or eat marshmallows for how it affects animals. ...and guns I enjoy using. Shows how the band deals with a dissenting view.

    ...however, Glorified G is indeed one of my favorite songs. :D

    seems like dave might have been shooting (pun intended) about owning guns and it rubbed Ed the wrong way.

    Thanks guys! Thats not really "bashing" him. Glad Ed wasn't being a punk-ass, because that would have been a punk-ass move.

    Absolutely one of my favorite song, is Glorified G, but I couldn't disagree more with the meaning. I don't personally own a gun, but its a scary fucking place if my neighbor's aren't allowed to have one either. I mean, drugs are illegal, yet people are able to get those constantly. So if guns are illeagal the only one that will have them are the criminals. And more importantly it would weeken us as a country to not have guns. If the shit went down, we'd be fucked. Silly short-sighted thought that made a great song!

    If you make all guns illegal, only those who abide by the law will bring their guns in.

    ...thus, only outlaws will have guns. It's pretty simple math.

    Please apply some logic to your arguement. Please, if you can.

    just like I said about the drugs, making them illegal will not prevent anyone from getting them that really wants to. The criminals will get them and the law abiding citizens will be screwed. I can go get some cocaine in about 20 minutes, yet it's illegal.

    By the way, these times are far far wilder that the "wild west". Don't believe the movies.

    there are statistics showing that a vast majority of deaths caused by guns are self inflicted.

    i am all in favor of tightening up the permit application procedures, screening process, background checks, medical records, etc.

    but banning them is not the answer.
