Its about 80 mins. So it could have fit on 1 disc.
Yeah, it seems unnecessary that they made it a double album.
They posted it for streaming on their website and it crashed immediately. I guess I'll find it out there....that will hold me over until the pre-order arrives.
sweet! i'll have to lsiten to it later tonight then.

How do you like it? I'm almost finished with the first disc and am enjoying it so far. Can't wait to give it a few more proper listens later tonight.
2003: San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle; 2005: Monterrey; 2006: Chicago 1 & 2, Grand Rapids, Cleveland, Detroit; 2008: West Palm Beach, Tampa; 2009: Austin, LA 3 & 4, San Diego; 2010: Kansas City, St. Louis, Columbus, Indianapolis; 2011: PJ20 1 & 2; 2012: Missoula; 2013: Dallas, Oklahoma City, Seattle; 2014: Tulsa; 2016: Columbia, New York City 1 & 2; 2018: London, Seattle 1 & 2; 2021: Ohana; 2022: Oklahoma City
dont know what to make of it. Its so different from typical AF.
What is a typical AF? To be non typical?
The Suburb don't sound like Neon Bible and Neon Bible don't sound like Funeral.
Anthems. Huge bombastic sing alongs are typical AF. Its clear this is a drastic change of pace. Its evident in the sound and just in the production. The trip they all made to Haiti evidently was life changing. And they discovered new influences. This album is way more rhythmic and drum heavy than any other AF album. This is the most dancey AF album in the catalogue. I dont think theyve ever set out to make a dance album before. Being influenced by Carnival and the Haitian music scene is going to radically alter your sound. And it has.
Sure they;ve changed sounds on all 3 previous albums, But this sounds wildly different from anything prior.

I agree. I wasn't sure I was going to like after seeing the SNL special, but so far I do. I really go into each new album I hear with no expectations so in this case I am trying not to think about what they've previously released and just listen to the album as it is. I really like the rhythms and drum beats on the album. I also like this album more on the first listen than I liked Suburbs. I now love The Suburbs, which quickly grew on me after I bought it. Obviously, I'm going to need more time with Reflektor to see how it holds up, but so far so good.

Halloween show in LA. Looks like I'll have to try to see them twice in the same week!
i want to come down for that but don't want to use my presale code, because then it's not good when they announce the rest of the tour.
I'm debating it. Already going to the secret show on Tuesday so I'm not sure if I really need to see them twice in three days. However, I'm guessing they'll play a much larger venue on their proper tour and it's kind of a special occasion since it's Halloween. The deciding factor for me will probably be price.
Downloaded the leak. I've anticipated their last couple albums but never got into them. I've made it further into this one than the others on first listen. Probably would've made it through a standard album length. Thinking this one might grow on me more than others have.

Yeah. I guess when you think double album, you expect more than 13 songs. But all the songs are so damn long! I'll have this on repeat all weekend.
Can't wait for tour dates for next year to be announced. Hopefully the presale code will come in handy then...

Yeah, but 16 min of it is backwards tape loop. Not really tunes.

What presale code?

i preordered the vinyl right after it was announced. each show they've added they've sent a presale code, but once you use it, you are done for the tour.
one of the perks of preordering was that you would get first info on tickets. once they started announcing shows, that perk was removed.

So if I preorder the vinyl now, I won't get a preale code for whenever they presumably do a full arena/shed tour next year?

The album hasn't officially been released so I think you would still get a presale code if you ordered it now...

I'll give it a shot. I planned to buy the vinyl anyway, but would be fine just buying it from a local store if there's no presale benefit. I definitely plan to catch them if/when they come to the Dallas area again. I saw them in 2011, and they put on a great show.

It's my understanding that the video is longer than the actual album. Reviews I've read, as well as Wikipedia, list the running time of Reflektor at 75 minutes.

The video includes a 10 minute hidden track between Joan of Arc and Here comes the Night part 2. Apparently the hidden track is on disc 2 if you start rewinding from the beginning of track 1, but I'm not 100 percent sure if it's there or after Joan of Arc. I downloaded the FLAC file from a site today, and the hidden track was included as Track 00.

Cool, thanks for the clear-up. I haven't gotten around to listening to the whole thing yet. I watched the special after SNL and have listened to a few songs, but haven't jumped into the whole album yet.

"It's Never Over" is pure gold and "Normal Person" is a Rolling Stones vs. LCD Soundsystem vs. Arcade Fire rocker!!!

I'm just saying the album is a bit bloated. It didn't need to be a "double album".
