Yeah, but at this point the use of women and children is still primarily taking place on the ground... there is not ample empirical evidence to create a profile for them when it comes to AIR TRAVEL, which is what I was discussing.

We're going to have to (hopefully) respectfully disagree on this point. I think you would be correct if we only used profiling, to the exclusion of random checks of people and heightened security, in general. However, I do believe that there is a place for profiling in the mix.

It would suck. But, at this point, it would be an anomaly, not the norm. Shit will always happen... there is no 100% effective way of handling security. However, even catching one episode is worth the extra effort, IMO.

Yeah, I was angry at the time I wrote this. Probably should've cooled down before writing. I have no deep seeded issue with muslims, why would I? I don't even know any. And if I did know any they would be more than welcome in my home......as long as they didn't want to blow me up Sorry if I offended anybody, I just get really angry sometimes because sometime something really bad will happen....probably a plane will get blown up, and more than likely with a little common sense it could have been prevented. I think Obama should have known immediately 'cuz there could had been more than one guy! It could have been a series of them. I imagine one day they will do a series of bombings across america and not just one location. That is what I thought was happening on 9/11. good question. at my job, if i know there is a problem but don't know all the details yet i inform my boss and say that i am trying to get more info. you tell the president that there seems to be a issue with someone with a weapon on a plane during the busiest time for air travel right away. at least the President knows that something is going on. i am not saying that the president has to be given 2 minutes updates unless of course he wants that but knowing that something is going on is important. I don't expect Obama to solve this problem himself as there are people whose job is it to handle this situation but i do believe he should be told that something is going on.

This was an attack by the AQ network as part of that war. Dude(tte)... This guy tried to kill hundreds of people as a warrior spy sent by our true and self-declared enemy of war. Even the Geneva Convention and international law allows for this kind of punishment. I'm not some wild eyed yahoo suggesting a punishment with no basis in law.

dude, the american justice system is going to work, and this guy is going to go away to jail for a long long time so everyone can sleep nicely at night. the justice system worked in the case of mcveigh and nichols, rudolph, the blind sheikh and original WTC bombers, and it is going to work for "Crotchey McBoomboom" as well....

what i don't understand is what is the purpose of blowing up a plane? even if you happen to time the explosion perfect so that the collateral damage kills a bunch of people - what is the most people you can affect? 1,000 - 3,000??
A lot more, if done right. It's not necessarily the casualties you're going for, but the after effects. Witness what happened after 9/11 - we went from being a flawed but still fairly model democracy to something aproaching a police state, where we were willing to have our civil rights and protections stripped from us, as long as our Daddies and Mommies in Government were going to Protect Us from those Evil Muslim Monsters Hiding Under Our Beds and Closets. We handed Osama bin Laden a victory of sorts.
That's how terrorists work.
And we are still handing them victories at every airport in America.

I think Obama should have known immediately 'cuz there could had been more than one guy! It could have been a series of them. I imagine one day they will do a series of bombings across america and not just one location. That is what I thought was happening on 9/11. I pictured a series of planes blowing up things on the hour or half hour all across america. All the stuff in Washington, the St. Louis Archway, Chicago Airport, LAs Vegas, etc. Anything that is monumental to us. I honestly thought that is what they were doing on 9/11. Obama needs to know immediately of any terrorist action on american soil!

good question. at my job, if i know there is a problem but don't know all the details yet i inform my boss and say that i am trying to get more info. you tell the president that there seems to be a issue with someone with a weapon on a plane during the busiest time for air travel right away. at least the President knows that something is going on. i am not saying that the president has to be given 2 minutes updates unless of course he wants that but knowing that something is going on is important. I don't expect Obama to solve this problem himself as there are people whose job is it to handle this situation but i do believe he should be told that something is going on.

sure, i understand the visuals ... but i refuse to believe that the subway bombings in london or madrid did less than say the lockerbee plane bombing ... ultimately, any terrorist activity on US soil would have the same effect ...
