Why Your Town Should Get A PJ Show In 2010...

...so I've read numerous posts about potential tour announcements for USA/NA in 2010, and I can't help but notice all the whining for dates from fans in areas that routinely get toured (ahem -- I'm looking at you on the coasts).

If you ask me, the upper midwest deserves a show date or 2 in 2010. NYC, Philly, Seattle, LA, Chicago have been done to death on the last few tours. I live in St. Paul, MN and I've seen PJ in other cities outside MN as many times as I've had the pleasure of seeing them here in my hometown. I'm willing to travel, but for obvious reasons, its not always possible. How about St. Paul, Fargo, Winnipeg, Des Moines, KC? How about the heartland/south/TX etc?

Its just a band and they're only human and I know they can't tour everywhere AND I should be thankful to see them at all, but I do think its fair to say that some areas get toured much more frequently than others, and maybe any potential 2010 dates could be in places other than (ugh) the coasts.

So...why does your town deserve a show date in 2010?

  • We have a 100 year old baseball park.

PS We're also getting your precious Joe Mauer for 2011.

Good thread though. Lotta hijinx abound in this one.

I'm in DC so most likely I will get a show- but there should be a complete North American tour. I would like to go to Alpine Valley

Seattle has been done to death? We got two shows this year after 7 years of waiting.

Blasphemy! Don't say such things -- it chills my Minnesotan heart. With Victor Martinez behind the plate for the Sox + Mauer being THE face of the Twins franchise, there is no way he's not with the Twins for a long time.

But on the touring note: I'll keep traveling to see PJ (as I will for the NO show at the end of April), but it'd be nice to drive 30 minutes across town instead of fly 4 hours across the country.

Because we haven't had a show since 2003 even though DFW is the 4th largest metro area in the US and over 6 million people live here.

I've never driven less than 4 hours for a PJ show- get over it! Would be nice though 8-)

That's exactly my point. It'd be nice to see them without driving 4 hours, especially when it seems the same areas get numerous options per tour. If you live in a moderately sized metropolitan area (which I do) or are within a few hours of other moderately sized metropolitan areas (which I am), that's not an unreasonable wish.

Because Pearl Jam has experienced many ups and downs in Denmark. Their experiences in my country has definitly inspired and changed the band. If it's for the better or for the worse is up to u lot ;)

And then there's Eddie's great grand mother, who emigrated for Denmark to America, and the name Vedder has its origin from Denmark. So you can say that Eddie actually is part Danish

Okay, I've wrestled a lot with this. But Mcam55 has a point. The sound quality is horrible. There's NO parking (for those who have not been to Fenway, I mean NO parking). However, its history and there is such an awesome scene in the area. It will happen, just maybe not in 2010.

Yeah they need to stick with the Garden, its the best place in the Boston area for shows (besides the small clubs)....I could put up with Mansfield because at least you can tailgate and its a fun day.
  • Mine shouldn't get a show, we have the worst music venue in the entire USA here in Billings...the same place where all the monster truck rallies are held...anywhere within a 5 hour drive in any direction is cool with me!

Cause we (Halifax, NS) still have that 7 pack of Keith's iced cold & awaiting the return of Ed's promise.

Before Pearl Jam play's Europe June/July '10, they will have to fly out of North America right? Well, Halifax, Nova Scotia, is closer to Europe than any other East Coast port of call!"

    ;)
  • Oklahoma!

Has anyone ever heard the song "Oklahoma" that PJ made up the last time they played here in 2003? Its great!

    Philly :D

Why? Because . . . it's Philly and we ROCK.

as long as they keep coming, we'll keep showing up
  • They should play my backyard because I'm special and it would be really convenient for me.

Seriously, it's hard to ask for much more in Philly, so I guess they should play somewhere else next year. Damn.
