I agree, but I do want a room that is affordable and decent- but i agree, if you're going to NO, it would be nice to stay near the quarter

I was down in NOLA for the Sugar Bowl and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express French Quarter. Decent hotel, a block from Burbon Street. I'd stay there again.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of
arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to
slide in sideways, BBQ sandwich in one hand, cold beer in the other,
body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "Woo Hoo what a
    ride"!

Just checked them out- all booked up. Also checked out the other places recommended in this thread:

Holiday Inn on Canal - Booked Up
    Bourbon Orleans - Booked Up
    Omni- Booked Up
Hilton by the Airport - $119 a night - haven't booked it yet, would rather stay some where closer the the Quarter if possible

Bearcat fan or Gator. I was there too.

I stayed with some friends at the Whitney a Wyndam historic hotel...was samll but nice rooms but was pretty pricey for New years. Not too far a walk from anywhere down there.

FYI - and bar on Bourbon Street called 544 I think has 3 for 1 specials all night at the upstairs bar only.

irregardless of the game, it was a fun trip. just a lot of people.

funny story when we checked into the HI Express...my friend had a separate room and forgot to book a smoking room in advance. when he asked for a smoking room upon check in they informed him that the smoking rooms were all booked...but did he want them to send up an ashtray??? wtf??? they were cool with him smoking in his NS room all weekend...hahaha anything goes in that town!

From what I've seen, it's a 3 night minimum in the quarter. I booked the Bourbon Orleans a while back but would like to find something less pricey if I can. I'm still looking.

LukinFan, are you going in for one night?
makes much more sense, to live in the present tense

Just want to add that if the show is over at 8 pm. you will go to Bourbon street after? Just think of where you will be the drunkest and stay near there. OR save your money and come up here for the east coast shows if they ever happen?

I'm looking to drive over on Friday- party that night in the Quarter, rock out all day on Saturday- party again that night, and then leave on Sunday.

  • Lukinfan,

If you REALLY want to make a cheap trip out of it I would recommend staying at a hostel. This one looks like a good option.
    http://www.indiahousehostel.com/

You prob won't pay more than $20 a night and how often will you even be there? It's located a block from Canal St and has a street car that goes to and from the Quarter for $1.25 each way.

Not to mention, hostels are fun as hell!

Thanks for this information. I was debating on going out there.

I have stayed in hostels too and felt very safe and comfortable. Girls stay with the girls and boys stay with boys (just had to mention that 'cause my one guy friend thought I went and shared in some "group" activities when I went out of town and stayed in Hostels!!! Oh my gosh!!! )

    Thanks again!
