As Ed said about 15 years ago, it probably doesnt mean anything, but, they were nominated for best rock song for the Fixer. They go up against U2, Green Day, Kings of Leon and Bruce Springsteen.
who tf cares??
The only distinction that really does justice to Pearl Jam is the applause of their fans.
Compared to that, a gremmlin is nothing but an insult.
If Homer Simpson can do without it, Pearl Jam can do so too.
It would be cool if they perform at the Grammys but I doubt they will

i think its great the boys getting nominated.. but the grammys gives awards to losers that cant even sing, ie brittney spears, so really how important is it..
Oh dear dad Can you see me now I am myself
Like you somehow
I just hope Kings of Leon don't win....after the Reading festival fiasco the last thing they need is a grammy to make them even more delusional than they already are...

what happend?
Did they reveal janet jacksons other boob on stage??
First nomination in the Best Rock Song category since I think Daughter. They've had a lot of nominations in Hard Rock Performance.
Ament got the raw end of the deal here.
i don't understand...how did jeff get the raw end of the deal here?
also good info re first nom since daughter for best rock song. the fixer is such a great radio rock song.
Actually I was wrong about Daughter....it was nominated for "best rock performance by a group or duo" and not "best rock song." I said Ament got hosed because Best Rock Song goes to the writers of the song and Jeff is the only member of the band not credited on The Fixer.
Here's all of PJ's grammy nominations if anyone is curious:
Album of the Year
1996 - Vitalogy (lost to "Jagged Little Pill" by Alanis Morissette)

Grievance was nominated? I'm surprised because it is almost as average as NAIS.

No, for that they would deserve the Grammy! Apparantly the crowd was dead and it put a dent in their rapidly growing ego, which pissed them off. Here is a clip of the story:
"So for all those who don't give a f--k about us, I understand. But we've worked hard to be here. We're the goddamn Kings of Leon, so f--k you."
The furious singer and his brother Jared then smashed their guitars into the stage, before throwing the remains into the crowd and making their way backstage, gesturing rudely to the disappointed crowd (flipping the finger).
The Grammys are meaningless but I have to say that I'm sort of indebted to it because it's what introduced me to Radiohead. It was 2000 and all they were to me were some one-hit wonder from the UK from the early 90's. How was a dumb American like me without the internet to know otherwise? But all the Grammy hoopla around Kid A caused me to download it (the very first of thousands of albums I would download off the internet) and I loved it. I promptly went out and grabbed OK Computer and The Bends in anxious anticipation for Amnesiac.

While I think Evolution rules, Most High is a great tune and since Zeppelin was never even nominated for a grammy, I think Page & Plant deserved it.

Better THAN Grievance. And I respectfully disagree.
