Never seen a bad show headliner.

The closest thing was Sugar Ray when they opened for 311 about 10 years ago.

Ooh I forgot that I saw Van Hagar during the Clear Pepsi tour in the early 90's

    Kenny G and Whitney Houston.

I was 8 and my parents took me and my brothers.

Also I was dragged to Richard Marx and Wilson Phillips when I was 9 or 10

To the OP, Billy Joel is not embarrasing at all. I think I would go see him just to hear Piano Man. I love that song.
+1 to the billy joel comment; i dont really have one that I'm embarassed by but for the sake of the post I'll say OAR cuz it seems not a lot of peeps like them on these boards

I saw OAR a few times and let's just say the beer lines were really short. They even covered Release and I went bonkers. Let's just say that there fans didn't appreciate the song much

Hanson. And no, not as a kid. It was about 2 years ago in my mid-20's. Went with a gf and actually had a really great time. They were a lot of fun live surprisingly. So what do I win?
  • ClaireackClaireack Posts: 13,561
To be honest I'm not that embarassed about it. But others might think it's embarrasing. Tom Jones, but it was at Glastonbury so that makes it a little cooler (?). He was actually pretty good. :D

1st concert: Huey Lewis & the News at the Spectrum.
with my parents - oh boy... Barry Manilow, Robert Palmer, Dirty Dancing tour.

Other freebies: Styx/Kansas, Peter Frampton/REO Speedwagon/Foreignor, Van Hagar, Aerosmith/Kid Rock (Kid Rock was surprisingly good)

Paid for: Creed (tailgating was fun)

    I think I win.

  • barry manilow might take the cake. i have also seen kid rock at the HOB on the sunset strip. it was a benefit for keeping music available in schools so there were a bunch of special guests which kept it interesting, but the KID puts on a great show. no embarrassment there.

  • Vegas 06, wife wanted to see a show, she was looking for one that would please me, she said Elton John, I said crap, lucky he was not on that week. Then she said Celion Dione. So our summer road trip consisted of Celion Dione followed by PJ 11 times. But she was not as bad as I had imagined her to be :o
Arms wide open with the sea as my floor.
  • in a heartbeat i would trade having to see celine dion once for PJ 11 times. the people watching at a celine dion show would be unprecedented. on a related note, myself and a few friends drove to see the SLC show in september. we barely had time to check into the hotel, take a quick swim to wash off the road, and throw back a pint or two b4 ben harper hit the stage. down at the pool, we ran into another friend from our hometown who was there with his wife and little girl. we were frothing at that point and he was curious as to why we were so visibly excited. he had no idea that PJ was playing that night, and ben harper to boot. we told him there were still tix available and he should come on over, and bring the wife and kid (8-10 years old, plenty old enough). that idea lasted about 10 seconds. the wife shot daggers from her eyes as she was hungry and crabby and the kid was all fussy. no pearl jam for him that night. they were there for hannah montana the following eve.

Hanson;. Actually, all the majority of the people were women in their early to mid 20's so they were around my age.So I was really suprised by the crowd.

I actually did this because I needed a most embarrassing show and thought this would top it. :D Plus, I need /want a Girlfriend, so I figured that would be a show were their would be alot of women around my age. Sadly most were just like groups of friends that were hanging out. Oh well. Another concert to add to the list.

I have also seen Creed and Nickelback. Creed was at Buzzfest back in 98. ("My own prison" and "Torn") were their two hits. Our Lady Peace and Foo fighters were the headliners and kicked ass.

Nickelback was free, (my mom is a huge fan) BUT this last show they did was way off focus. Consentrated too much on getting the front rows wasted on grey goose, so it really got boring. Hinder was an opener and sucked really bad. Only highlight was Papa Roach. I've seen them 3 times now from festivals to opening for NB. Not a huge Papa roach fan, and wouldn't care to see them on their own, but not a bad live act.

Just being at Glastonbury sounds pretty fab to me.
I'm hardly a fan of Tom Jones but caught him on a TV show a couple of years ago and was surprised at how good his voice still is after all these years, helluva singer.

1st a Disclaimer: Free tickets from my Buddy's Dad who would often give us suite tickets, club tickets, a luxury box, all from his company. The only rule was we had to use them so they wouldn't go to waste.

    Having said that: Michael Bolton...

Alright: My mom bought these tickets for her, my sister, and myself. She thought we'd enjoy the experience- it was both of our 1st concerts, I was 13 or 14. Good intentions, bad choice of artist--- Mariah Carey. We actually left early!

So if I tell you that I think it's embarrassing that I saw the Moody Blues a couple of times when I was in high school in the 70s, there will be somebody out there who thinks that's way cool. ;)

    That is WAY COOL!

You know it was really strange, I was sitting outside my tent when he came on and I grabbed my hubby (then boyfriend) and literally dragged him to see him. He did put on a good performance and even tried his hip swivelling thing that he does. Mind you it was probably longer ago than I care to remember (in fact I don't think I can remember at all - I was in my early 20's I think). How time flies! :D

Moody Blues are pretty good. Saw them in the late 80's when they had a resurgence on the Other Side of Life tour. I'd imagine the 70's tours would have been cool.

Stings first solo tour I really enjoyed, the band was top notch, with Branford Marsalis and Kenny Kirkland. The live album from this tour (Bring on the Night) still gets some play.

Michael Bolton though? Can't offer any defense to the person who saw him.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

Would love to have seen them.
I first saw them in 1970 in a theater and they were VERY good. Saw them in 1972 in a much larger venue where they had sound problems all night--just so-so. They were big faves of mine in high school, along with Traffic and The Who (I know, that's a strange combination!). I was also very fortunate to see Traffic in 70, 72, and 74. Those were really the years for concert going! 8-)

But when I was in college my boyfriend (who is now my husband) teased me mercilessly about all my Moody Blues albums. :shifty:

they were opening for kiss (who i was raised on and will not apologize for) but i made sure i was there in time for the opener. and the middle slot was one of the blonde hair bands, either kix or great white or bulletboys. i listened to all that pop metal shit til about 89. bang tango, dokken, hanoi rocks, dirty looks... you name it.
