He had like six of them and that was by far the best one! Now imagine if he was at 100% last night? They said he was at like 70-75%. He would have been unstoppable

Well, he is never at 100%, so there's that. But yeah he is something else. When he had the ball at the top of the key the offense looked unstoppable.

Well yeah that was a good game also. Could have gone either way. Embiid had another monster game. Another .01 or .02 seconds and could have gone to OT.

Should've gave him the shot for no other reason than the length.
  • pjhawkspjhawks Posts: 12,529
Terrible defense on the Tatum shot.  Why did they defend him 60 feet from the basket?  You let him get momentum over the defender to receive the pass.  Defender should have started at mid court.  He has to come to you,  you wanted them to pass Tatum the ball that far away.  Would have been much easier to defend Tatum if he himself caught the ball in the backcourt.

And I am big fan of the court they used last night. Not too busy with colors and ads.

A tip of the cap to your squad, Miss Corningstone.

Some great basketball the last couple weeks with last night's game, Memphis and Denver. More from Maxey and Harden would've pulled that one out.

Harden missed the buzzer beater. I mean, you make some and you miss some, but they are in this position of needing a buzzer beater basically every game. Can we get just one double-digit win?

We traded away Drummond, Seth Curry and 2 first rounders as well. If we don't get out of the 2nd round and Harden bolts to the Rockets I say we did lose it. :(

I mean I'm not so sure what the alternative would've been? Haliburton? I have to think the cost would be close or at least would be some kind of version of the same. Maybe you get more years there but then again I don't know if you'd want to commit to that player for that long.

But as rational as I want to be about it all, at the end of the day they gotta push through. The Philly Sports ego is incredibly fragile right now. I got the Sodfather coming out today saying the fuckers in AZ overwatered the fuckin field. I think I could handle a total collapse much more over getting bounced in the 2nd or EC Finals.

I mean, is this team really going to beat the Bucks or the Celtics in a best-of-7, 4 games on the road? I just don't see it. Embiid can power us to 2 wins, where do the other 2 come from?

I'm just trying to stay relevant to the idea of whether they "lost" that trade.  And my point is - they probably did not, majority of the reason being because Simmons is a dead fish. They're getting actual production for two (post)seasons from an all star player.

But to your above question - I'm sure I'm the odd man out on this one, but I think they can absolutely beat both those teams.

But one of two things needs to happen this year - a) get to the Finals or b) they better fire Doc and let Embiid have who ever he wants as coach (and whatever else he wants). Biggest concern for me after this season, especially if they don't make the Finals, is Joel sayin' "fuck it, I'm outta here."

Yeah - I mean, just imagine the frustration after he made a damn 70' shot that would've tied the game. Basically "what else can I do here guys?"

Just shedding the $immon$ contract makes the Sixers winners in that trade.
Doesn't mean the trade will net them a title but imagine how this season would look with Gentle Ben still on your roster eating up $35Mil of cap space.

I am not buying the Houston stuff. We're going to hear all kinds of rumors until we know what will actually happen this summer. But we have a legit shot at a championship while their team imploded and, like the other guys are saying, are saddled with paying Ben 35 million for no production. It's the worst contract in basketball at this point. I'd say the Sixers winning this trade is a no brainer now.

And the ancillary pieces in the trade are pretty insignificant in the NBA world.
Drummond? Easily replaceable with any number of journeyman bigs.
Curry Lite? He's what the 8th guy on a true title contender at best. And his contract is up at year end, so you haven't lost anything beyond  this season there.
    The picks?
First one conveys this year. Currently it'd be #26,,,basically worthless.
2027...that could be higher but it's protected through pick 8, so you won't have traded away someone like Jayson Tatum

At the end of the day, splitting with them is fine. Not gonna win them all.

Really tough stretch right now though...
