Your favorite part of a live show?

This is probably a very hard question but....
What is your favorite part of the PJ live experience??
Just curious, as I have not yet had the honor of attending a PJ show, and can't wait to lose my PJ 'virginity', so to speak

i would have to say besides the whole show
The audience signing along and the band noticing what is going on and then having the audience singing along
i will never forget last year me and my brother went to MSG night 1 i believe, it was his first Pearl jam show ( he has been to a ton of concerts) and whatever song was playing the audience was participating and he was like " i have never seen anything like that before" and for me that is what it is all about
the beginning of the show is always cool and the end they also do something specialPost edited by Rubberbandman on0 -

I was talking about this last night. It's funny how you feel part of the show almost - After hearing so many recordings etc, you know when to put up your hands, when Ed is going to have the crowd sing a line/scream etc, when to clap, it's just really funny, no other band will bring that feeling of "being a part of it"
So i guess the best part is interacting and being on the same wave length with PJ diehards and in some respects, the band.0 -
Wow, so excited for you to experience your first show! I can only reiterate what everyone else has said... the butterflies and excitement before the show starts, wondering what they're going to open with and everything that comes after... soaking up that atmosphere and being utterly blown away by the incredible positive mutual transference of energy between the stage and the crowd. The crowd singing along, it gives me goosebumps. Soak it all up and you have been warned... you will be ADDICTED! It truly is like no other concert experience... enjoy!

When the entrance music hits, the lights dim then BOOM the band hit the stage and the crowd roars =D0

As previously mentioned, the start of the show. The anticipation for the lights to go out, and anticipation for what opener will be played. Will this finally be the show they play Oceans? Or will you get stuck with Wash Again.
It's also the worst part of every show. The moment that you realize that it's another show that they won't play Oceans at. The second worst part of a show is when the house lights come on at the end.0 -

The first time Ed starts to sing is always the best part for me. His voice is so powerful and just fills the room. It's not that I forget what it sounds like, but I still always get chills. Boots and youtubes don't do it justice. So that's my favorite part (and judging by the crowd's reaction I know I'm not the only one).I smile, but who am I kidding...0

And the moment they take the stage, when all that anticipation finally translates into an awesome 2 and a half hours.
And, for my 2 shows so far: singing the intro to Betterman from the top of my lungs.Bern - September 13, 2006

best part by far is knowing that they always come on stage on time ... when the lights go down and the into music is being played ... and waiting for the first notes to hit ... i love release and long road as openers - so, combine that and anticipating hearing these songs to kick off a show is my favourite time ...0

I had a similar experience at the last Boston show, brought one of my best friends who had always liked PJ but had never seen them live, about 5 songs in when they played Animal and the place was on fire he turned to me and said a line that i really think sums it up best "this isn't a concert, it's an event"0 -

Your friend has never been the same, has he?
I say it's not just an event, but a total experience.Midwest. Indy/Lafayette.0 -
last show when I was there under Eddies microphone I turned to look at the audience- to get an idea of what it all looks like to him/them. Their vantage point. Then I instantly thought about all shows all the cities all the years and I was really overwhelmed. All of this adoration just impacted me all at once- how the guys must feel. My answer is the audience- the collective energy and love for the band - it keeps them doing what they are doing for us. Love the crowd0

Agreed . . . that's what I LOVE about their shows. Unlike all these other band whose "tours" are the same setlist EVERY night. It's more of a "show/performance" than a concert. I HATE that.
But that's not the case with PJ . . . every show is different in terms of setlists and how the guys act on stage/ what Eddie says etc. Makes it amazing.Barrie 08/22/98

When the lights go down, and you can see the band walking on stage, with Ed generally being last. He puts his wine and notebook down, addresses the crowd with a "good evening" and the music starts. It doesn't get much better than that.0
