I agree. I just wonder how much of an opportunity Young will be given to earn the starting QB position? They've got money tied up with Fitzpatrick so I think he will just get the job. Not a huge Fitzpatrick fan here but I hope he proves me wrong.
The schedule (as of now) appears to be very favorable.
Basically have to be better than the Jets and actually win the games against Miami this time.
New England gets the East (until proven otherwise)
Baltimore North
Houston South
Denver West
That leaves 2 spots for Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Jets, San Diego, Oakland, and KC.
Dont think Jax, Miami, Cleveland, Tennessee, or Indy are gonna compete.

Be glad DS1119 - completely washed up, hasn't been healthy or a factor in literally 5 years - with your D moving back to a 4-3, and a very healthy set of rushers in Mario Williams and Mark Anderson - he's deemed completely useless...remember, he's strictly a 3-4 guy (and he's not healthy) - 2007 glory days were a LONG time ago...
Watch NYJ pick him up
It isnt surprising at all. He was out with the 3rd and 4th stringers in the Minnesota game.
The Bills are legitimately deep now and will have to cut some good players. Merriman hasnt hacked it and 4-3 is not a good fit for him at all. He has played 5 games in 2 seasons, and they have healthier, hungrier, and frankly, better OLBs. They probably wanted to get him out early as a sign of good will in order to allow him to try to catch on elsewhere.

I personally thought he could have flourished in specialized situations but the coaches obviously felt otherwise.
Defense should be one of the best if not best in the league.
The defense that let Christian Ponder (he of the 3-13 Vikings) easily march into FG position the first 3 times he touched the ball - against Buffalo's 1's 5 days ago???
The defense, that for 3 years in a row - ranked last in the NFL, allowing touchdowns 64.4 percent of the time offenses breached their 20-yard line???
The defense that allowed 19 rushing TD's last year???
Should be one of the best in the league? The one being led by ex-Dolphin coach Dave Wannstache? Is ex-Phin Nick Barnett still missing tackles on that D also?
I want what you are smoking my friend!
Maybe you have figured it all out in the offseason - good luck in the opener w/ the Jets -who have scored touchdowns on 13 of their 18 red-zone trips (72.2 percent) against Buffalo the last two seasons.
Wait, on paper with Mario Williams all of the above changes, right?

We shall see. I think a 3 win season for the fish is quite optimisitc at this point actually...while the Bills will be flirting with 10-6 if not better.

The D was terrible last season, but marred with injuries and still in transition to what they are now.
The line of M. Williams, K. Williams, Dareus, and Anderson should be able to get pressure on QBs. Especially with the possibility of Moats blitzing. This will provide a cascade throughout the entire defense. A very good, young Defensive Backfield too with Gilmore, A. Williams, Byrd, and Wilson. Hopefully McKelvin can turn the corner, and McGee would provide some great depth if he can be healthy.
Match that with the schedule they have. There are a ton of crappy/inexperienced QBs on there... this defense has the potential to be very good.
I dont think a portion of a preseason game and last season have much validity. Last year, the Bills couldnt even complete a pass in the preseason, it looked like they would go 0-16... and they came out and lit it up the first 5 games.
But proclaiming the defense as 'one of the best, if not the best' is a little presumptuous. I feel the potential is there, but it is guarded optimism.

Let's face it. If Fitz went down, that was it. V. Young at least gives them a puncher's chance now if that happens.
I think he's going to really challenge him for the starter's spot.

(A move I respect, BTW )
Kind of...yes.

:nono:
Hamilton vs. Saskatchewan and Hamilton vs. Montreal.
Cool sport. love the 3 downs and the 20 yard end zones with the goalposts on the front (which turn a missed FG into a danger of a TD return against).
Anyways. Bills vs Vikings tonight. I just cant produce any excitement for preseason NFL. Ugh.
I usually give it the first quarter just to get a feel but you're right. Preseason footbll is pretty much a snorefest.
