Not the biggest Steely Dan Fan, but I LOVE Cant buy a Thrill and own the UHQR. There's some great songs on Pretzel Logic and I'm trying to determine if I need that, or can suffice with the recent reissue. Interested to hear your thoughts on this as almost everything AP touches is gold.

Well it sounds just..terrific.  As you might imagine.  What I really notice is the lack of reverb in all three of the releases so far.  Steely Dan was known to prefer their sound to be 'dry' without sweetening.  And I think we see that in these cuts.  All three have a specific tonal quality to them that you don't normally hear, and definitely sound different than the original pressings.  For this one, I have an original US and Japanese.  Neither sound great, they are just good.  This AP is great.

Now whether this is worth your money is another question.  If you aren't a total Steely Dan nerd (I friggin' love them) then it's a big nut to spend.  Remember there is a more consumer friendly version of each of these.  What they appear to have done, which makes perfect sense, is take Bernie's fresh cut from the analog masters and digitize it.  So it's ADA rather than AAA.  But that's why it's a normal priced album.  For most, this would be plenty good I would think.  Although you'd have to check where they pressed it.  It wasn't QRP.

Just got Joe's Garage (all 3 acts) by Zappa, and Are You Experienced by Hendrix. Currently waiting on The Beatles 1967-1970, Singles Soundtracks (Vols. 1 & 2) and for 10C to send out Yield.

Thanks for that! Definitely gives me some stuff to think about. The recent reissue is not receiving as great reviews as some of the others. I'm holding out that a buddy of mine will get the UHQR so I can test it out. ;) I have to assume this is the definitive version, and I'll buy some AP stuff Im only mildly in to just because they do such a great job. I appreciate the thoughts!

had about 10 minutes at Sit & Spin records in Philly. First time there. Piles of great obscure hardcore punkish eps. 99 cents a pop. Just grabbed 5 random ones.
    So far so bad...loving it.

Timing (of the arrival of this LP) is everything!  Another stellar Monk LP and the first I've heard from him with a larger ensemble.  Terrific!

Pick this one up on the way back from taking my wife to the airport (she and stepdaughter are going to a yarn style knitfest in Seattle).  I usually shy away from WaxTime LPs but the price was right ($15, like new), and, well, what the heck- Monk and Coltrane!  Great LP and this WT vinyl sounds pretty darned good.
