What's the word on Brandi's new record? I heard the music is good.  Curious about that and the pressing.
I like the album. Listened to it on Spotify flying back from Ohana. My pressing won’t arrive until the 18th so can’t comment on that.
Well that changed quickly. My signed copy will arrive by the end of today according to Canada Post.  Will give it a listen tonight!

I had vaguely heard of The Shadows and saw this at a good price, so decided to give it a try, figuring I could always get my money back selling it.  Well, so much for that.  This is a keeper!  Great early rock/surf/pop (recorded in 1960-'61) with terrific instrumentals and good vocals.  The liner notes point out that in an interview John Lennon once said, "Before Cliff Richard and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music."  Great stuff here!  And it includes the fabulous single, "Apache".  Awesome!
Oh, and one other thing- I read a number of scathing reviews of WaxTime pressings.  Perhaps it's because this an EU pressing, in any case, this LP sounds great!

    The Shadows – The Shadows

    Label:
    WaxTime – 772041
    Format:
    Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue
    Country:
    Released:
    Genre:

^^Ventures type music? For a while I was grabbing a bunch of the ventures records on the cheap at my local dig.  Fun mood enhancing music from time to time.
I picked this sucker up as I watched the count slowly get to 1 over a few months:

May just recycle this record back to the digging grounds. Kind of boring to me.

IN the mid 80's, a friend of mine an I were cruising Haight St. in SF (on foot, of course) and heard some surf music coming our of  a venue we had seen some great shows in- The I Beam- and sure enough, on the marque, there it was "The Ventures".  Neither of us has the cash to handle the cover charge, but it was fun hanging out a while and listening to these old surf tunes.  That band still had ti going on.  Would have been interesting to check them out.

D.R.I.  , don't know them, had to look them up.  Punk with some surf influences?

I listened to them in the 80s when I was young and would probably classify as hard core.

I just can’t listen to some of the stuff I did in middle school..  SOD, MOD, DRI, Cromags and the like.  That was evidently just a phase for me.

Cool Brian. Can't see every show!

No surf. Just noise, but really set the stage for thrashcore. The roots of it all.
Worth knowing about, but I don't think you will like it.

Very cool!  Here all along I thought Neil was referring to Hank Williams.  Nice bit of Neil/Shadows trivia, thanks!
