Because I'm so accustomed to decades of hearing this great record a certain way, it's strange to hear this version. The clarity of Jimi's vocals are amazing, and there is a lot of detail that previous pressing have rendered barely noticeable. Some of the highs are a bit bright for my damaged hearing (and after first listen, even at moderate volume, my ears are ringing like a son of a b!), but overall this is a revealing repress that I think most listeners will appreciate. This is, for me, an essential album, so a variety of pressings will always intrigue me. This one gets thumbs up. (And it's very affordable!)
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Are You Experienced
Label:Legacy – 88843059851, Experience Hendrix – 88843059851Format:Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue, Remastered, Repress, Stereo, 180 GramCountry:Released:Genre:Style:No, but wow, to hear "Purple Haze " in living purple! OOOH...AHHHHHHHH!What I really want though is a good mono pressing. When I was listening to the new-to-me Legacy pressing, the stereo separation seemed to stand out more than ever which, in some ways, is very cool. But in my head I was thinking how much I would really like to hear this music straight ahead (is that what Jimi meant when he wrote "Straight Ahead? lol) mono. Just straight to the brain without the wide separation. I'm getting to think I could hear 10 or 12 versions of this album and dig something about each one!"It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -
Arrived today and worth the long wait!

I have the '96 Experience Hendrix mono and it's a fine pressing, but I don't listen to it as often because I absolutely love the stereo sweeps on a few songs, especially "You Got Me Floatin'" .I'm toying with getting the MOV mono AYE simply because there are some out there that aren't too pricey. I didn't jump on the Experience Hendrix Legacy when it came out and those are getting up there too much for something a bit iffy in quality."It's a sad and beautiful world"-Roberto Benigni0 -

I’d love to just “find” a copy of Two Legs.0 -

Found these in the $5.00 bin at the flea market today. Vinyl is not pristine of course, but definitely looks decent. The covers are in really good shape. I also saw a Ten Club Xmas single for $20. I decided to pass on it.0

After reading about it on the NY thread, I decided to have my local store save me a copy.
