Iron & Wine - Archives Series volumes 1 and 4

Volume 4 is on limited edition pink vinyl. It's the acoustic versions of 8 tracks from The Shepherd's Dog that Sam gave away online. It sounds amazing on vinyl!
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

Also got the "Where The Buffalo Roam" soundtrack, scored by Neil Young, today.
I posted this in the Neil thread earlier...

    goldrush said:

It's an interesting record. Not exactly an essential Neil release, but the collector in me is very happy to finally get a good quality copy for a decent price.

    Taken from good old Wiki...

“The film was scored by Neil Young, who sings the opening theme, "Home on the Range", accompanied by a harmonica. Variations on "Home on the Range" are played by Young on electric guitar as "Ode to Wild Bill" and by an orchestra with arrangements by David Blumberg on "Buffalo Stomp". Music in the film included rock and R&B songs by Jimi HendrixBob DylanThe Temptations, the Four Tops and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Additionally, characters played by Bill Murray and René Auberjonois sing lyrics from "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".

Because of the high cost of music licensing, most VHS and all DVD releases have retained only the Neil Young score and the Creedence song, "Keep on Chooglin'", with the rest of the music replaced by generic approximations of the original songs. Only the theatrical release and early VHS releases contained the songs found on the soundtrack. The choice of songs for the DVD version was somewhat anachronistic, since it featured 1980s-style songs in a 1960s and 1970s setting.

The soundtrack album was released by Backstreet Records in 1980 as a vinyl LP and included pieces of dialogue from the film. It has not been re-issued on CD

Yes, they do 40% or 50% off sales fairly often. If you sign up for their newsletter you'll be notified about them. And yes, their shipping and packaging is good. I've never been disappointed by InSound.

I am itching to buy some records, but I can't because I have to wait and see if anyone buys me albums on my wish list for Christmas. I don't want any duplicates, lol. It's a difficult time of year for me.

Go through the ones you have and listen to the neglected ones :) - how many records can you listen to at one time?

I always listen to the neglected ones, lol. I more often than not specifically pick on the album I haven't listened to for a long time. My newer records actually tend to get very little play TBH, after the first play or three. After that they sit there until they reach "oh, I haven't spun this for a while!" status, haha. It's really got nothing to do with listening. It's simply about loving the feeling of having a new one, deciding to buy it, holding it for the first time, and knowing it's been added to the collection for future use .... It's the compulsive shopping side of the hobby, lol! The compulsion isn't strong in me at all compared to many, but strong strong enough for me to miss shopping for records that I want. ;)

Going big on jazz lately.  I find it puts me in a mental/emotional place better & different than any other form of music.  I find it’s some of the best sounding vinyl I have as well... almost like the style of music lends itself better to the format?
