"We didn't sign the biggest superstar at every single position. WAH. WAH. WAH." You could see the spoiled entitlement on those sullen angry faces in the crowd. Good riddance.

I had of course known the yankees last won it all in 2009, but it’s more shocking to think that’s the ONLY one in the last 22 years.

I wonder if the Yanks switch up their analytics team?
    Or steal the Astros'
Astros drafted pretty damn well too in 10 years they had Altuve, Corea, Riley, Bregman, Alvarez, Pena and Tucker all come up through their pipeline. That's just the hitters.
Yea and that's where the analytics people come in too. Also the players they sign. Who they think can fit with what they do? Who they think they can fix?
If they are doing that then they need new people.  Gallo, Donaldson and Falefa are not great analytic trades IMO.  Bader seem to work out.
They had to take Donaldson because they wanted IKF.
And it does work for a full season. When they were winning with all those injuries
Why on earth would you take Kalefa when you have Volpe who looks ready to come up now?  They brought up Peraza also for SS.

3B was a problem but they could have traded for one since DJ wan't ready.

Yankees have some killer players ready in the minors.

I like this, though I do think there’s a very real scenario where he walks

I’d generally agree, and signing a huge shortstop deal would be 4th on that list for me, unless it meant a massive trade

Once together, Steinbrenner should ask Judge face-to-face with no other prying eyes and ears — “Do you really want to be a Yankee for the rest of your career more than anything else?”

Ha.  I think its pretty clear that Judge values getting paid and setting himself up with generational wealth is more important than "being a Yankee" (which really means less than their fans think it means).

The Yankees are probably better off if they dont give him his 10-year $400 Million contract or whatever he is going to fetch.  With an owner who has an internal cap... that is too much opportunity cost wasted on a player north of 30.

Honestly, if Im a Yankees fan, I would hope beyond (futile) hope they move on from Cashman.  He builds flawed teams in this day and age.  Great at feast or famine homeruns, but not good in the playoffs against good teams who have pitching and more dimensions on offense.  Cashman was always big at brute force, big move for big names, but now that doesnt give you World Series(s).  Cashman is just going to keep trying to pound it through.   Theo Epstein is a proven commodity.  I would also be interested to see what Stearns (Milwaukee) can do in a large market.

The Mets have also been linked to Stearns, who said today he was remaining in an advisory role with the Brewers.

Cashmnan whether you want to believe it or not is one of the best in the business.  Replacing him won't be easy.  Look at the rest of the league and how are they doing?

Boone is loved by the players and the management.  He also does what the analytics tell him.  He doesn't make the tough decisions.  Those are done by an analytic team.

The players not hitting in the playoffs can be part him and the staff but ultimately it was the players.

People don't get let go because of having one of the highest payrolls every year and not making it to world Series since 2009, and only that year since 2003.
He is right.  He still has his job.
Even the Reds, trash team that I root for, fire people for failing to produce....and they generally don't even field a team which has a chance to produce.

that's a pretty favorable team deal, he only got a two million raise since the previous deal was two years at 32 million.
