Innnnntresting...6 years, $90 million. I mean, this team is gonna be old as dirt at some point but DJLM at $15 mil a year can’t be beat.

Well this is why you keep Gleyber, dump Sanchez and bring up Seigler or Wells, and the few pitchers down the pipes.

Yes very happy with the deal.  You bank on 3 very good years, 1 decent year and two crappy years and if you need to dump it down the road, dump it.  But a guy in the top 5 of MVP voting two years in a row (I think) for $15 mil you can't beat.

Yes, top 5 last 2 years.  Distant 5th one year but still.

Kluber. Big fan of him. If this is all they’re doing for pitching, not a fan

$11 million...gross.  Between the pitching coach and the health dude, they better know something. Assume this means that’s pretty much it and I hate that

I mean you make that trade ten times out of ten. I think I may have only sorta heard of one guy, but not sure you can expect much of anything from the dude
  • He is not a bad pitcher -  if he can stay healthy.

The way the Yanks are constructing their potential rotation, they should just go ahead and sign Tommy John himself.
    This weekend we rock Portland

If this is to sign Brett Gardner or is a straight salary dump, I hate this so much.  Hope they have something bigger in mind.

I believe they already are and they definitely aren't going to exceed it, I just really don't like this unless there is another shoe to drop at some point soon.

NYY are concerned about staying under the Luxury Cap?

Bummed about this one big time.

That linked Ottavio piece with all of the pictures?
The one that I laughed out loud at was the one with Tanaka shirtless.  Jesus - baseball players are classic.  Looks like a regular old, in reasonable shape, 30 year old guy....not a $20MM per year athlete.

I did see that but no...he's going to be going back to Japan and in general he is just an adorable human haha
  • Tanaka's career with the Yankees was interesting and enjoyable to watch a lot. That game three performance in 2017 was great.

I wouldn't be surprised if another reason besides money for Tanaka is the differing responses by this country and Japan to the pandemic factored into his desire to go back to Japan.

I think outfielders have an advantage in WAR. Mattingly was a better 1st baseman than Gardner as an outfielder. Not that Gardner is bad. Still taking Mattingly over Gardner 100 times out of a 100 though.

Yankees sign Jay Bruce to a minor league deal. It doesn't mean they won't re-sign Gardner
