He’s caught Cole a few times now...
  • From the postgame notes:

Yankees batters hit a season-high 7HR tonight after homering six times on Tuesday...are the fifth team in Baseball history to have consecutive games with at least 6HR, also: Los Angeles-NL (6/29-30/96, 12HR), Anaheim (6/3-4/03, 13HR), Washington (9/4-5/12, 12HR) and Toronto (8/12-14/20, 13HR)...

their 7HR tonight were their most since 4/7/19 at Baltimore (7HR) and their most ever in a game at the current Yankee Stadium...were their
most in a home game since hitting 8HR on 7/31/07 vs. Chicago-AL.

    • According to Elias, have matched their franchise-record by hitting 13HR over a two-game span, doing so for the third time, also: 13HR
    from 6/28/39 Game 1 (8HR) through 6/28/39 Game 2 (5HR) and 7/31/2007 (8HR) through 8/1/07 (5HR).

    • Have scored 33R through the first two games of this series.

    • Have hit a Major League-leading 58HR at home this season, including 13HR over their last two games.

    • Have hit 82HR this season, their second-highest total through the first 49 games of a season in franchise history (83HR in 2018).

    • Of their last 17 home runs, 11 have come with runners on base...follows a streak of 11 straight solo homers.

Higashioka is the first Yankee with a 3HR game since DH Gary Sánchez on 4/7/19 at Baltimore...is the third Yankee in franchise history to hit 3HR in a game as a catcher, joining Bill Dickey on 7/26/39 vs. St. Louis-AL and Mike Stanley on 8/10/95 vs. Cleveland (Game 1)...overall, is the 23rd player in franchise history to hit at least 3HR in a regular season game (32nd time).

Switched to the Yankees game and saw they were talking about Mattingly. Is this the day they clinched in 95? That can't be right. I they clinched the last day

Less than half a season and all but Cole finishes with a 2.84 era and I feel like we never even saw the best of him. Hope they can get a full one in next year

    Might be a short postseason

So win 5 seed and lose 8 seed. Seems weird they could end up 8 after that streak basically locked up the playoffs but here we are
