Dude, we get it. He had one great playoffs, a couple good series, some average and some horrible ones. We get it. But why is he the only one you are calling out?
I have an average of about 27 million reasons. The way this team is configured they will always compete for a playoff spot. That's a fact. Come playoff time he disappears...and quite frankly he;s not much come regualr season either anymore. The right time is now to just part ways. There is zero chance a relationship with Girardi canbe repaired at this point. A guy who has been coddled his entire career is getting tooled on by fans, the mdeia...do you really expect he will be in the starting lineup next season. No shot.

As much as it sucks, the Yankees just don't have time to let players sink or swim in the big leagues. Look at Ian Kennedy. I agree, and it would be nice to have him now, but in the AL East being always in the hunt and having that payroll, it is just tough for them to let players work things out in the big leagues, which is needed to develop him.
The 90's Yankees had the opportunity to develop players because they were so bad for so long before that. It would take something like that to have it happen again, I am afraid. It also helped that the boss was kicked out for a while.
it might be worth the short term pain but I hear what you're saying.
if my Giants go out tonight, it will have been a good season; your Yankees were a failure in the eyes of most. Not fair, but you know more than anyone how that works. If I had known then what I know now...

I know exactly what you're saying but this team could definately take the time to develop some more of it's talent. I mean the Yankees did have the most wins in baseball during the 80's when they were "bad".0 -

I don't completely disagree. And it looks like they are trying to do that with some of the guys that are lower down in the farm. They hit a lot of bad luck with injuries this year, but Sanchez, Williams, Austin are all promising players that could contribute at a high level down the road. They are just a ways out.0 -

I dont know how you can come to any of these conclusions based on the few interviews and soundbites there have been.
As he says if he plays the way he should, Joe wouldn't be put in that situation. I don't expect a superstar anymore but I also don't expect an platoon player yet.0 -

I hear you. I don't see it as an overall failure and I had a whole lot of fun. I see these last 4 games as a gigantic failure but the season as whole, given what they had to deal with was fun and pretty successful.0 -

Here's a few interesting stats
Arod reg season strikeout rate is 19 % as a yankee in the postseason it's 27%
He has a ops of 484 since the 2009 postseason. He has 2 doubles and no homers.0 -

No one is arguing that he has been good these past few years, but no one else has been good either and he is getting all the blame.
All I am arguing is that it makes no sense to move him right now.0 -

He basically called Joe out in my opinion. Francesa just put it perfect. How can Girardi honestly look anyone in the eyes and say yes ARod is my starting 3b next season after what he just did in the playoffs? Girardi will be on at 400 PM. This should be interesting. :corn:0 -

I don't think he did. I thought he was very mature about it. Basically said he doesn't agree with it and he always feels the lineup is better with him in it, but he hasn't been producing and if he was playing like he should then joe wouldn't ahve been put in that situation.
Thats the perfect thing to say. Of course he doesn't agree with it, but he somewhat understands it.
Edit: And I am sure behind closed doors he is a lot more angry about it than he is putting off, but I also don't think Arod really cares about what Joe thinks. He believes in his ability and if he plays the way he should then he will play.Post edited by Cliffy6745 on0 -
The longer we keep him the less value he has especially if we ship him to the NL. I wonder if the marlins would do Arod for Buehrle and Bell. That's 69 million right there they would owe Arod 9mm per over the next 5 not counting bonuses.0

I don't agree. He has absolutely zero value right now. If he can put together even a mildly succesful season next year then he has more value. After the playoffs, he is seen as a platoon player. That is not what he is yet.0 -

I don't think other teams see him as that but we shall see I think he's done as a yankee0 -

The last article I posted sums up my thoughts on the value of him and everything I have been saying.0 -
