Speaking of pitchers who cost the team a lot of money for very little production, Kei Igawa had to give up his dream of making it back to the majors and signed with a Japanese team. He told reporters that he had hoped to keep playing in America. Considering that he's 32 and split last year between AA and AAA and had a combined ERA of 3.86--and that was his first minor league season since 2008 with an ERA under 4.00, but it was still over 4.00 in AA last year--it's really not a shock that nobody in MLB wanted to sign him. A mediocre 32-year-old minor-leaguer isn't exactly a hot commodity.

Pineda will have an MRI tomorrow morning. After he says he felt soreness in his pitching shoulder.

I had a feeling something like this would happen.
    Shows: 6.27.08 Hartford, CT/5.15.10 Hartford, CT/6.18.2011 Hartford, CT (EV Solo)/10.19.13 Brooklyn/10.25.13 Hartford

So quiet in the manager's office you could hear a Pineda drop from the rotation.

Pavano was a gutless piece of shit, it's ridiculous to compare the two.

Agreed, bronx. The ny mentality when it comes to things like this makes no fucking sense. He has yet to throw one meaningful inning and has a sore shoulder and people are declaring him a bust. Come on.

Dl for Pineda. Inflammation which I would assume means there is not structural. I would imagine a lot of this has to do with him not working much this offseason.

Sounds like food news though, right?

Gives the yanks and Pineda a good excuse to start the season in the minors

So it shoulder tendinitis which is great news, hopefully he can get back before end of April. In other news Yankees signed Jack Cust and resigned Branyon to a minor league deal, good insurance with ibanez on this team.

forgive me..just nervous with this kd

we traded ur boy..the next "star" for him
    granted montero can't catch

but when i think of the players we could have gotten if montero was included..it makes me nervous w/ pineda

I hear you, man. Just seems like half the fanbase is giving up on this kid before he pitches an inning. That is frustrating the hell out of me. Unfortunately it seems he didn't put in much work over the offseason and it looks like this is how it ended up. Hopefully this will give him time to get his stuff together and be ready to go before May. I still think this kid is going to be the real deal. Just delayed by a few weeks.

As someone who was at the ballpark today, I don't think it was that bad in person. The "pastel" thing work for the area, with the tile and flamingo/marlin centerfield thing. I am a big fan of the old ballpark theme, but that doesn't work here.

Maybe it's different in person but on tv that stadium really looks terrible. That thing out in centerfield is the most hideous thing I've ever seen at a ballpark. I'm surprised they didn't put windmills on the bases.
