    From LoHud.

Said Phil Hughes: “He’s really good back there. I’ve had him a couple of times in spring training, a couple of times in rehab starts. He’s very advanced behind the plate. Calls a good game, gives a real good target and it was nice to see him get his first Major League hit, too.”

I am really curious as to who is going to be the Yankees next catcher. Sounds like they have pretty opposite catchers. One can hit and one can play defense.
  • get a clip of waldman talking to him after game...hysterical

    how was he catching?

nice .....4 game lead with 16 or so left

Didn't watch too much of the game. Tuned in around 11 and caught the big inning off Felix then went to sleep. Romine got his first hit and it was a solid hit from what I hear. Seems to have done well behind the plate since there is nothing negative reported.

Yeah, looks like the Yanks should take the division fairly easily. If the Yanks go 8-8 in the final 16, Boston has to go 12-4 to tie and win the division, and they look like shit recently. Hopefully that means the Yanks get Texas in the first round.

The team that beat the crap out of your guys last year? (I know Clifton is elsewhere :D but he only pitched one game in that series.) I guess their pitching is getting worn down. I think the AL playoffs will be a dogfight. Except the Red Sox aren't going anywhere.

That is the team. Lee is gone, their pitchers are beat and the Tigers are on absolute fire. Yes, I will take Texas in the first round any day.

I can't believe Boston is so bad right now. Really bad timing for them, not that I mind at all though.

Tigers have to cool down. They may be playing the Rays. I hope there's a Wild Card playoff. We could all see how exciting it would be to have it every year. Imagine if Lackey has to pitch in that game.

Yeah, but even if they cool down a bit, they can still hit pretty well and can throw Verlander at you twice. Going to be a pretty crazy finish. Rays have it tough that they have to play the Yanks and Boston has to play Baltimore the most here on out.

Lackey, like Burnett should not and won't step foot on a mound once the regular season is over. Could you imagine Boston being down 2-1 and throwing Lackey out there, ouch.

Well, here goes aj. Fortunately Martin is back and the kids don't have to deal with 343 wild pitches tonight.

  • Congrats Mo. Despite my frequent put-downs of relief pitchers, I recognize how awesome Mo has been at what he does. Nobody is anywhere near his class.

You guys are loaded up on the milestones this year.

Yeah, that is pretty awesome. He's the best ever at what he does and like you said, does it with class.

It's been a pretty crazy year for them. I guess that's what happens with a couple aging all time greats.

Really? Thats pretty cool. Having a pretty damn solid season and hopefully he gets a playoff start. Doesn't seem to get rattled for such a young pitcher.

I think he'll definitely get a playoff start. Maybe home?

Don't know about at home. That would most likely mean he's the second starter and I'm not sure I see that but who knows.

Would be awesome if Tampa could pull out a win tonight and get it back within 3. Going to be a big series at Fenway this weekend.

I'm only thinking home because he would be more comfortable there than on the road in the playoffs for his first playoff game.

Yeah, I assumed that's probably what you were thinking. The playoff rotation is really up in the air, see how everyone does over the next 2 weeks. I would just be suprised to see him as the number 2 starter although I don't think I would complain if he was.

Last west coast game until Memorial Day weekend next year. I can live with that, aside from the fact it means baseball is almost over.

Yanks in DC next year, I will defintely be hitting that up. Plan to get to Citi Field and DC next year at a minimum.

Still not coming to Philly. Have they been to Citizens Park besides the World Series?
