Alright, now I am starting to get a little jealous of this fucker that caught the ball.
Mitch Modell gave him a 2009 World Series right today. God damnit thats awesome.
i hear he's also working out a deal to be a Jenny Craig spokesman :P
this is just becoming stupid
haha. I hear you. I feel for the kid with the whole potential tax bill though, am sure the Yanks will work it out. His 20 minutes are just about up, let it be. He did the right thing and deserves some credit.

he was in teh right place at the right time and had the ball fall into his lap. end of story.
giving him the tickets are cool. fair enough. pick up his tax bill. great. but to get into paying off student loans, a WS ring, an sales week in his honor at a memorbilia store and then TOPP's including a card is just to over the top.

I think it's cool, kid could have made a shit load of money off it. There are plenty of rich yankees fans that would love to have that.
It's almost over, baseball will be back tomorrow. I didn't hear the student loan part or the card, the card is dumb, but baseball cards in general are done, trying to make a few bucks.
i feel like the yankees pressured him into making a decision on the spot.
would they have let him sleep on it for a night or did they tell him to decide right then and there?
They brought him into Randy Levines office and said "So, what do you want?" I don't think they wanted him to leave the building but I think they were perfectly ready to write a big check.
The fucker also has Randy Levines business card. What I would do to have the card, phone number and email address of the president of the Yankees.
According to a bunch of tweets from Buster Olney, if the Nats don't promote J.C. Romero to the majors his intent is to sign a Class AAA deal with the Yankees.
Don't know how good he is anymore, but he's a lefty, so I suppose that's where the interest in him lies.

I will put it this way...I was thrilled when the phils cut romero a month ago. I cannot imagine him lasting more than 2 weeks in the AL East

Ehh, who knows if he will even make it to the big league club.
I'd love if JC Romero ended up on your team. But sometimes relievers turn things around, so you never know. He hasn't been too good since he stopped going to GNC.

Yeah, I don't know. I kind of see it as a Millwood/Silva signing. We'll see and as long as he ONLY pitches to lefties then it might be worth a shot for a couple weeks.

Lefties still hardly ever got hits on him, but usually because he walked them before they got a chance.

Silva has come and gone, signed him, sat in the minors for a month of two and released.
Mark Prior but he's been hurt all year, go figure.
Keith Law's midseason top 50 prospects are out today. Not good for you guys...
Jesus Montero C 6-4 225
Analysis: His bat still hasn't really come around, although I have to believe the power and patience are all still in there. For a guy who projects as a first baseman or DH, though, .289/.346/.418 isn't an inspiring offensive performance given his history. Preseason Ranking: 4
EDIT: His midseason ranking didn't paste here, but he's down from 4 to 21
I'm not too worried about montero. He has gone on streaks this year and he will be fine. Some people think he's bored and some people think his defensive work is taking a toll on his offense. I want him to be in the big leagues right now though.
