I am fairly certain the Yankees are going to give CC a 342 year/$3.7 billion contract after this season. God damn he's awesome.

Didn't see much of the game today as I am nursing quite possibly the worst hangover in the history of the world but great game from cc. Sounds like the run came with a bow tie on it.

upton threw the ball away let cano go from 1st to 3rd

then they had cano picked off 3rd and shields threw it away

According to Darren rovell the Yankees have already made 2.5 mil off jeter 3000 gear. Pretty nuts.

Steiner sports couldn't handle the volume of calls either.
I haven't gotten any Jeter 3000 gear yet. I hope Modell's has them.

Alex will get the surgery and will miss 4-6 weeks. Looks like his 30/100 streak is in jeopardy.

Wow, I forgot about that streak. Unless when he comes back, he goes on a tear like he did in 2009 when he got it the last game of the season.

I dig that fans from all teams have given their congratulations to Jeter. He's the best.

For anyone who follows the Yankees system, some bad news today. Sounds like Slade Heathcott (the guy who started the massive brawl a month or so ago) is out for the rest of the season and may need a second surgery on his throwing shoulder. That is certainly bad news, he came out of high school, but I am not sure if I would expect him making the big leagues after two shoulder surgeries.

As I said in the MLB thread, his antics annoyed the shit out of me as well. Just go away, you lost.

I just posted this in the MLB thread but the Rockies will listen to offers for anyone but Tulo and Gonzalez. They are not shopping Ubaldo and would have to be blow away, but may listen. I guess the Reds are interested in him.

Any package the Yankees offer will have to start with Montero AND Banuelos, I am sure, and that is a whole lot to give up, but dude is only 27. He lost velocity on his fastball this year, which is definitely a concern but I don't know. There will be a few teams interested in him if they do consider trading him and I hope the Yankees would be in the middle of it.
  • tcaporaletcaporale Posts: 1,577
Wouldn't say that Ubaldo is worth those two prospects, though.

Especially if even one of those two turns out to become the player that people think he can be.

Don't think there's much of a chance of the Yankees landing a great pitcher, maybe one or two solid ones.
  • CROJAM95CROJAM95 Posts: 9,796
I would only trade top flight prospects for an everyday player

Pitchers, are year to year. Only pitchers I trade a bunch for are

    CC
    Cliff Lee
    Halladay
    Lincecum
    Cain
    Hernandez
    Lester
    Verlander
    Kershaw
    Romero

That's pretty much it... Even Josh Johnson with his recent injury kept him off my list
  • Cliffy6745Cliffy6745 Posts: 33,730
I don't know. Ubaldo while having a down year, is certainly a top pitcher I think, no? I am a huge fan of both Manny Banuelos and Montero, but I think Jimnez is one of those guys you have to consider. He is 27, he strikes people out, gets ground balls, and is signed to a great contract. He definitely walks too many and his home runs are up but damn, I dont know, I really think you have to consider it.
  • tcaporaletcaporale Posts: 1,577
Maybe one of those two guys and a few other pieces but not both.

I dunno, I feel like giving up your two best prospects has to be reserved for somebody that you know is going to deliver. Ubaldo is certainly very talented and may very well return to last season's form but it's not a certainty. Whereas someone like Cliff Lee (just an example of a great pitcher) definitely will not disappoint you.

A package with one of them wouldn't come close to getting it done. I do agree with what you are saying for the most part, I am one of Monteros biggest supporters and can't wait for him to be up. The thing with Ubaldo is just age, sure he is having a bad season, and it's really not that bad, but he is so young and he has had 2 really good years in the majors.

I feel like he is exactly what the Yankees are looking for.
