Reggie got a ring at the end of that series though.
The better team won, but it was a nice consolation prize. (too bad he didn't get his deserved MVP trophy)
Yankees have a monopoly on the World Series recordbook, so it's nice to see one of our guys up there.
When you root for the losingest team in sports history, you enjoy whatever your team gives you. You guys, of course, wouldn't understand that.

I hear you, man. It was a fun series.
While I love reading about it and Yankees history in general, I don't worry too much about the old championships. "My" yankees have had a pretty good run of it though.

5 for me...think you have a couple years on me Either way, not too shabby and I can't complain.
Nah, no 3 peat will be happening anytime soon, not with the way baseball is today.
i thought the phils would have an outside chance w/ their pitching this year....but they aren't even gonna close to the regular season wins
Are you saying you thought this year's Phils could win 114 games? I sure as hell never thought that. Still the best record in baseball.

oh well..another yanks record that will never be broken

Crazy. The 2001 Mariners may have had more regular season wins but not entire season wins.

Former Yankee Draft Pick Gerrit Cole chosen #1 by the Pittsburgh Pirates
Dipshit, as I said in the mlb thread, the knucklehead could be close to playing in the bronx and now he's on his way to Pittsburgh. Hope a couple years at UCLA was worth it.
Some bizarre picks the last couple years. Cito Culver in the first round now this...
Kevin Goldstein: 51. Yankees: Dante Bichette, Jr., 3B, Orangewood Christian HS (FL). Kid can hit, even looks like his dad, but does he have other tools?
keithlaw: I laughed. Jr. didn't make my top 100 (report: http://es.pn/jJzYLw )RT @jslyuan: Yanks realize it's not actually Dante Bichette right? [via Twitter]
keithlaw: Wait till you see the hack. RT @Bloogart7: @keithlaw Yikes, just saw footage of Bichette running. Not impressed. [via Twitter]
Dante Bichette Jr., of
Orangewood Christian HS, Orlando
Bichette's father played 14 seasons in the major leagues, earning four All-Star Game nods, collecting 1,906 hits and 274 home runs and even posting a 30-30 season in 1996. His son is cut from similar cloth. He's a righthanded hitter who has solid athleticism and a track record of performance, going back to helping his Little League team reach Williamsport, Pa. The younger Bichette is a high school infielder, but his profile will wind up being that of a power-hitting left fielder. He lacks fluidity defensively, and his best tool when he's not in the batter's box is his throwing arm. Offense is his calling card, and he's a cage rat who often can be found taking extra rounds of batting practice. Bichette has had a lot of movement in his swing but has toned down a bit this season while still producing big power and plenty of bat speed. He has as much raw power as any prep player in Florida and runs well enough to be a corner outfielder if he can't stay in the infield. He's committed to Georgia.

Not as bad of a scouting report as I was expecting from what I first read. Yanks will jump up and grab someone early if they want them as you can see from Culver last year but not sure about this.

Greene isn't quite one-dimensional, but it's close. He's a physical beast at 6-foot-2, 235 pounds, and one evaluator compared his power to that of Russell Branyan, another south Georgia lefthanded hitter.
Seriously though, sounds like he has some serious power and could be an average leftfielder. Not a huge fan of the pick but this made me feel a bit better.
Let's go Yanks! I feel like this is the real start of the baseball season, not that games didn't matter before but I feel like this is where they get going.
