I think when this happens, a lot of us are in denial. We want to believe it can't happen but then reality strikes and as much as we'd like to, we can't win every year. So even though right now people who post in this thread are disappointed with not repeating, if a season is 95 wins and a playoff trip happens every year, that is still pretty good. Life goes on, I know I will be watching the World Series and anticipating another year of Yankee talk in this thread.

  • I don't have a problem with that. A manager who wins 89, 103, and 95 is not someone who would usually get fired anyways even here.

As well you should. What you're feeling is what I felt in 1996 the first time the Yankees won the AL pennant and World Series in my lifetime.

I can't say I have a problem with that, but Girardi did have a bad series. there's a lot of 2nd guessing that can be done, which is not fair. But here's my "1st guessing" from just tonight:

walking Hamilton again...that is dangerous. Vlad Guerrero is not some bum, he will get a hold of one...don't put more runners on base for him

bringing in Robertson?!?!!? It's 3-1! Are you giving up?

I didn't realize there was a Florida Marlins fan here. welcome! At least it isn't some 4th place/perennial NL highest payroll Mets fan.

Just landed in sf, I'm glad virgin only had TNT not tbs...... Im a lil shocked at certain moments of this series. Texas deserved it, but some of the descision making baffles me. I can't see Posada behind the plate anymore. That ship has sailed a few years ago. Hopefully Montero/Cervelli can get some time to grow.

    Another interesting offseason

Just imagine what will happen when the RANGERS win it all, just don't burn down Texas Stadium. I'll only ask one thing is there any way to make your state smaller to lesson my drive from South Florida to Phx, AZ. Texas is a beast to drive through.

    Hats off to The Rangers.

Disappointing end to a fun season. While this team was awesome at times, it just didn't have the feel of the 2009 team. Overall, another fun season of Yankees baseball.

A few questions going into the offseason.

Jeter, Mo, Pettitte and Girardi. Assume all will be back.

Where does Montero fit in next season? How many games does Posada catch?

Cliff Lee, Cliff Lee, Cliff Lee.
  • Newch91Newch91 Posts: 17,560
I hate to think of this but when Jeter retires, I don't think I would be able to watch as many Yankee games as I am now. All I've known since I started watching baseball in 1996 is Derek Jeter. He's my favorite player. It's going to be so weird to not see him as the starting shortstop in the future.

Very cool that she worked for them. Thats awesome. What did she do?

I am pretty suprised by that. Always seems like Eiland, Pena, Long and Girardi have a good relationship. Less suprised by some of the players but from the outside looking in, I have always thought he has done a good job. Cashman said the other day that resigning Girardi is going to be the first order of business.

If the Yankees are to sign Cliff Lee, how much do you think they would spend on that signing? I'm trying to gauge how much the Yankees total spending would be in 2011.
