How to control tour depression after that Philly Experience?

What's the secret? Cause i'm getting sadder & sadder every minute missing my friends & the live Pearl Jam experience! :( I wasn't gonna make these show's cause of a hurting lung & problems with my asthma. Was worried about fainting or getting passed out, but made it through the week! :) Though the day after I woke up from my bed from home, I got so weak, lost my voice, sad & been thinking of the amazing time I had rocking out in Philly! My first Philly Cheese Steak. Seeing friends from old & new. Watching an amazing work from my favorite band of all time on stage kicking out the jam's. The tough thing, yet again, I traveled alone. And coming back home to a place where it's tough to explain to your friends at home about the experience, cause many aren't even into the band or stuff, takes the passion away sometimes.

What is there to do?
Thanks!

Absolutely no cure until these bootlegs are released. You just have to ride out the dark days.

I know what u mean... people at work give me looks like I'm crazy when I tell I drove to Philly 3 times this week to see Pearl Jam.

They don't get it... but then again I don't get the guy at work who spends ridiculous amounts of money chroming every part of his motorcycle or the other guy who spent enough money for a down payment on a house putting after market crap on his truck.

So I guess it comes down to spending time doing what makes you happy even if other people don't always get it.

I don't get post-tour depression anymore. If anything I am rejuvenated and energized. I now have even more concert memories to look back on fondly and no-one can take that from me. Now we just sit and play the waiting game until the next tour is announced!

I would've been much more depressed if I had gone to the world series game I had tickets for instead of the 4th show. One of the best decisions I ever made. Just listen to boots, check out youtube, pop in the old dvd's, and drink lol! I'm spending a lot of time on here the past couple days reading fanviews and stuff. I haven't spent this much time on the board in a long long time.

D, I haven't been in Philly but i know what happened to me after the Euro gigs...I was thinking "how could i continue with normal life after this experience???
It took me a lot of beer, a lot of work and a beautiful wife feeling exactly the same as I did!!! But there is no healing! We are still hoping and praying to see them in 2010...for a long, well organized PJ tour holiday!!! ;)

  • I hear you on all counts. It is always depressing after a PJ show, and this time seems so much worse. Even though people have been complaining about Saturday's crowd, I didn't see the lack of energy. That was my only show from this stint, and it was the best crowd I've been a part of. It was just such a celebration and so much fun... I find myself wishing I could be back there again and again.

The youtube videos help, as will the bootlegs. I really am hoping that there is a DVD from these shows. I think something in the vein will happen, just depends on the format. I can definitely see them doing a Touring Band/Immagine in Cornice format, with selected songs from the four shows. Either way, dvd's would definitely help.

The biggest thing however, is just PJ's music. There's no way to relive the magic of Halloween for me, but their music is obviously the closest thing. I've been getting their albums on vinyl, which has been like rediscovering some of their music. I definitely plan on continuing that.

The biggest thing is just to look forward to 2010 and more shows.

I was depressed a little on Sunday. Man. It was over.

However, I started thinking about (hopefully) next time.... and I really think that if they play shows in 2010 I am going to take some huge trips to see them. Possibly including Europe.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I'm already planning on taking a trip to Europe, however I am now going to hold off on making any plans until I hear what the 2010 tour dates are. Unfortunately I'm not too sure if Europe will happen, but we shall see. A PJ road trip here in the states could be a pretty sweet idea too!

  • I just think of all the fans worldwide who wish they could have gone and it makes me even more grateful for being able to go to all 4 shows......plus my wallet needs a breather!!!!!!!!!

they will be back before you know it....NYC...Boston...then we can do it all over again!!
  • It is a ridiculous thing....all I can think about is how badly I want to see them again now. Serious tour depression...I haven't stopped listening to bootlegs and watching Youtube videos since I got back to Pittsburgh from Philly. They better go on tour next year...but I don't know if I can wait that long : ( I'm wishing Australia wasn't so far away.
    I miss you alreddie.
