Interesting, im not a 10c member, I was going to become one when they release a new album. Its not that i dont want to become 1 its that my noney could be going to bills and things.

I totally understand that the better tickets go to the longer serving members, which is fair enough, but i was kinda hoping in my selfish but trying not to be selfish that they just drew the tickets out of a hat.

I'm going to have to sign up now so i can beat some other ppl. How many 10c tickets does an average concert have?

theses days in the US, apparently 10%

in Europe that was 300 last year, and probably 500-600 this year, Wembley excepted of course (there was definitely way more this year, which is why the queues started so much earlier..last year you could show up in the afternoon and still be easily on the barrier..I wish 10c was telling us how many tickets there are)

I have not been a member here when the band has been touring in my area, so I'm not sure how it works when they do.

Are the members here that have been members longer, eligible for better concert seats somehow? If so, how does that work?

    Thanks for your replies!

Wish it was the same here. If I could find a group of fans here in Nova Scotia (Halifax, Bedford, Dartmouth, Sackville) to hang out with that love the music I like and talk hours on end (well somewhere's around that time frame .. but the hanging out would be cool). Can't find them here. :(

What do you mean. That person makes complete sense. Why shouldn't someone that just joined the fan club get a better seat over someone who's been in it for longer.

i'm 170K and couldn't have been happier in grand rapids in '06 when they made the mistake and put the10club seating backwards.

little justice for those of us who've spent just about as much as others who may have gotten 6 months earlier than we did and are too lazy to let their membership go so i can sit closer all the time. (please note...sarcasm alert).

Or maybe just in America, cos the European GA experience wiped the floor with the seated shows I've been to in Australia and Japan.

Thankfully we don't have to put up with that in Europe. Shows are GA with 10c members getting 15min early entry.

I can't think of anything worse than seats at a concert...

:D..we have so many photos of you sleeping everywhere (you're even worse than me or babs)

I've NEVER been more than 30 yards from a stage.. and that was far!
I'll be about that distance tonight at Crowded House only because it's not GA :( .. I fucking hate seated shows, and not just because you're farther..last one I was at, The Waterboys at the RHA, I was the ONLY person standing in the whole room for the first 20mn! still was pretty much the only one in my section, side closest to the stage, the whole show

BECAUSE there was so many more people.
I didn't show up until midday (or even 4pm in Prague) at many shows last year and still was on the rail..there was no chance of that this year, regardless of what time the first 10 people were there, by midday there was 50+

the earlier and earlier was starting to get on my nerves though..had I been taller, I wouldn't bother (yes it does matter, went to a show last night, was stuck in second row for most of the show, it was hot and I was having problems breathing at times..once right upfront, fine)

you buy a ticket, then they organize who sits where.

i think it's bullshit to be honest.
How can people think seniority is unfair and bullshit? I can't comprehend that. Unless of course they mean they haven't been in the fan club as long, not having paid the same amount of fees that early joiners have?....

It's like a plane. Once you go First Class you can never go back. Regardless, anything's better than the seats at my first show. The absolute last seat in the building. But who cares, only the cranky, long-time Ten Club members would let their proximity decide the quality of their show.

Besides, those old timers up front need those seats so they can actually see and understand what's going on.
Untrue... everytime i've seen Pearl Jam.. i've had awesome fanclub tickets.. then the second night i've either been back floor section... or in the rafter with a bunch of losers... ala Sydney #2 :) hehe an injustice!! :)

well said with regards to taking someone with you. i have been in the club since 93 and on two occasions i went to a "not so good seat" and simply traded seats with the person. it was good to see the excitement on their face when they realized where they would be sitting.

That is mighty good of you! Speaking as someone of high membership number I'd like to thank you greatly for this!

Would be nice if 10c could mix it up a little by having senior members up front but also having 1 of every say 5 - 10 pairs of up front tickets given to random members!

Love the GA shows in Europe and mange to get up close the majority of the time. Having said that, I'd love to see them in the US and having a little ticket lottery would make the expense of that kind of trip a little easier to swallow!

I don't get it either. Of course you should get better seats if you've been a member longer. It's just plain common sense. That's what seniority means.

I agree people who have been in the club longer deserve better seats...but come on. It's the way 10club does it. Tix to as many shows as you want? That's what is unfair about it. Back when it was one show of your choice, at least that gave other members a chance of being closer at the show they chose. With this "closest seats at every show you choose to go to" nonsense, the same selfish people are traveling around the world & taking the close seats from fans who probably will only get one opportunity to see the band at all, nevermind up close.

I have been a member for a long time & my # is 155xxx. My touring buddy is #51xxx...so believe me I have reaped many benefits from this system. I've seen the band up close & personal many a-times...and yes, there's nothing like it. But at the same time, I don't think I, or anyone else, deserves to own that right for eternity. The club needs to figure out a way to spread the closer seat wealth so that every fan at least gets the chance of experiencing that feeling. (example: Tix to as many shows as we want, but seniority only rules for the show of your choice, then the rest of your shows are random...fairness for all. :))

I love seniority, but at the same time maybe limit the first few rows so there are not so many repeats to let some other people get that experience. I have had, and usually get rows 1-5, but if I go to more than one show I see the same 5 people dead center every show, why not move them over a few seats(not back) and let some randomly chosen fans from any number range get a chance( a lottery for the that show)? Basing this on people who go to many many shows. I have done this (gone to multiples) and love getting close believe me. I enjoy having been around a long time, but I do think every once in a while if I were going to more than say 3 shows on that 4th 5th getting stuck a few rows back and letting some fresh faces up front too. I am not saying move me/whomever back to the farthest seats just maybe like 6-10 to let a few new people get the joy of being right in Ed's/Mike's/Jeff's/Stones grill.

General admission just sucks experience wise for a more than one time deal.

BY the way next tour I am going to take one lucky fan with me to a show in the midwest, all you have to do is get there. I'll have some sort of contest for fans with number past a certain range and assuming my tickets get a good seat the winner will get some good viewing with me,all assuming seniority stays in place. I want to help spread the jam---up close.

HAIL HAIL hrd2imgn!!!!!!!!! That is an awesome idea!!! I have only been in the 1st 10 rows twice and that was because I went through a broker and spent about $250 a ticket at Alpine Vally. My # is 231*** and my seats are always on Stones side not the main floor but about 5-10 rows up on the side. They are not bad but bringing in some new blood (just like 25 seats)for a show would be great.

    ...
    Here's how it works...
The first Pearl Jam gigs were all General Admission. So, it really didn't matter what your number was... it was great not having to deal with the TicketMaster lines at the Sears outlets or that horrid ChargeLine phone ordering bullshit in order to actually get tickets. Plus, your name was printed right on the tickets.
The first year they had seating... you could only get one pair per tour from the Fan Club and venture out to Sears or deal with that ChargeLine bullshit for the others. I'm in the 139000s and sat in the third row in San Diego in 1998.
The next tour... well, I screwed up and let my membership lapse in 1999 and missed out in the 2000 tour club tix. So, I have no idea where I would have ended up in San Diego. as it would have it... i scored a third row seat in Alburquerque, N.M. and won a pair on the radio for San Bernardino.
In 2003... you could buy as many pairs of tickets you wanted. That 139000 landed me a few rows back (but I ended up in the third row again, thanx to a friend who was in the 69,000s). The only reason I know where i would have landed was because I used my membership number for someone with a higher number.
In 2006... that same 139000 number landed me in about the 12th or 14th rows for most of the gigs... except I got luck in Santa Barbara and ended up in... the third row. But, in San Francisco... I finally got to the rail because of the General Admission layout.
    ...
    So... things work out.
