We're going to go get dinner and then see a band that is playing at bar a few towns over. It should be fun.

Hahaha- I normally save Hamtramck for the third or fourth date, once I know for sure the girl is worthy.

I remember when my husband first took me out to dinner. It was to a fish and chip shop that had some tables to sit at, I had chips and cheese pie with a pineapple fritter and ice cream for pudding. He paid.

    Have a fab time. :D

Thanks! I haven't been on a real date in awhile. Kind of nervous, but also very excited.

Can't remember the exact date, some time in January 1986, the chip shop was called Harker Yard (it's still there but it's been modernised). First kiss 1st January 1986, first sex 1st January 1986, first met September 1985. When we first met he was wearing an orange chunky knit jumper, jeans and baseball boots. His hair was about 3 mm long on the top and long at the back. He rode a 175 cc motorbike. He just gave off complete earthiness to me.

It's so exciting in the beginning isn't it!! :D

Thing is though I went downstairs and asked my husband what he remembered, he said 'ummmm you were wearing shoes ......', then he kind of lost it. Obviously I didn't make the same impression he did!

wow, we have very close datelines there, tho differing memories.
sadly, the pig & whistle is no longer :(....nor is pappagallo's restaurant, where my husband proposed to me february 26, 1991. actually, where we had our wedding reception is no longer either. yikes, is it a trend? ;)

and what can i say, we had our first date/first kiss....same day. i'm easy, apparently. ;) hahaha. the sex did come later tho. for whatever reason i think i made my husband wait for me longer than anyone else. perhaps i knew he was the *one* even then? idk.

i have NO idea what i was wearing on our first date, but i do recall hubby was wearing levis and a white zip hoodies as it was chilly on the beach. he also had the most beautiful blonde hair with the cutest little curls at the back of his neck.

    *sighs*
    the beginning IS so exciting!
thank bejeebus tho, there still other times to find some of that excitement again, even if different.

kissing on a first date makes one easy? i need to learn the rules of this before i start subjecting the women of northeast ohio to my fast-paced lifestyle.

the thing about your husband is a classic example of why i don't understand the female mind at all. you like the guy more, so you'll sleep with other guys faster? what sense does that make? ladies?

do notice the ;)....it was said in jest.

and, not to get into my past sexual history buuuuttttt....i clearly stated idk why, honestly, i made him wait longer. i think a lot of it also had to do with him. i didn't actually 'make him wait'.....he also didn't press the issue early on. there definitely was a far greater *connection* with him, a real love, before sex. i think we both simply took our time. i think too we just respected each other and wanted things to go forward, etc, that yea....we waited more. besides which, i already knew i was heading overseas to study not too far off, so i guess i didn't want to rush just b/c of time. so no, it wasn't a particular thing per se, and i already delved into it enough...haha.

tho i will say, have you not heard of casual sex vs. relationship sex?
i know many men and women ill have sex first night, and sure, a relationship may develop...but more often than not, and i have read stats saying as much - first date sex is usually just a booty call. so i think both sexes, subconsiously, make that distinction. as to how quickly it develops into a sexual relationship, or not, is so entirely individual. i certainly wasn't holding up one of my own individual experiences as an example of what is the norm.

also keep in mind...i was 18 when i first met my husband. i think it does make a difference to some extent. we were exclusive then non-exclusive then back to exclusive...just due to our ages/circumstances, etc...and it was all what worked best for us, looking back in hindsight and seeing...we're still here, together.

mine mostly was too, though i do wonder how out of touch i am... i don't know that i've ever really "dated" normally. just kinda stumbled into relationships.

yeah, i'm not saying you're nuts or that you're the final arbiter on the female mind, but that does seem to be a common pattern. though maybe age does play into it. i dated a girl about that age and we waited forever even though i was her first love. but she was very quick to hook up (not sex) within hours of meeting a guy during a time we had split up for casual messing around... and then she made the guy she left me for (and is now engaged to) wait a while too. and now i've been keen on this other chick and we slept together pretty much on the first "date" (which was more of a weekend and we held out until we got real drunk the second night) and it's pretty clear i'm little more than a booty call/friend with benefits for her. it's just strange. at least us guys are consistent... we want to have sex immediately regardless of whether we're really interested or not ;)
