Hahaha. This is the kinda guy you could give a new car to as a present and he would complain about the color. I wish my life was so uncomplicated that seating at a PJ concert was this big of a deal.

You don't get it. I pay my club fee's every year just so I can get great seats every three years or so when they tour in San Diego. I don't care what I pay for the seats. If I have to I will buy them from scalpers in the future. Also, you must not be married. You would understand if your wife is unhappy and she can't see during the show and you promised her you are going to have great seats....You are not going to have a good night with her not seeing..34th row on the floor are not great seats. If you have a club that bases its seats on how many years you have had your membership then you should not have newer 10c members sitting on the side of the stage or a few rows up on each side. Common sense.....34 rows away with people in front of you or the wings?

I do get it. You feel entitled to front row seats because u pay $20 to a fan club and if u dont get them then the whole experience is ruined. I am married -- my wife and I stood in mud to watch PJ at a venue where we couldnt even purchase ten club seats and had a blast. We didnt always have a great view but we adapted and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm glad she didnt get pissy like ur wife when she discovered she couldnt see Eddie's eye color. Maybe your problem isnt truly with the 10 club.....
  • next time you get those shitty 34th row 10c seats, PM me. I'd be happy as hell to get that close. With my high 10c #, I can only dream of being in the 34th row. But hey, I'm always happy to be there wherever I am!

but, anyway, they were the crappiest 10c seats i've ever had. not complaining or blaming the 10c.

the problem is the fans that travel from all the place (including la) to sd or whatever cities they travel to. I don't understand the touring fans but whatevers. and i do think they did something different with the way they distributed this year in sd (floor first?).

the show was great but I've seen them play a 'lil better and looser in the past (going back to Indio in 93, kids).

Hey i was perfectly satisfied with my section U row 14 tickets! So was the nice ten club member that came with me! Not like the arena was all that big anyway. Sometimes we need to be happy to just be in the building. If your look at the glass half empty its always going to seem like you got the short end of the stick.

better being on the wing two or three sections from the stage and 10-20 rows up?
or even in the 2nd level but in the first few rows?

sometimes those of us with decent, but not great numbers (im speaking as a 175XXX), get stuck 20-30 rows back, or even way over on the side of the floor-it does happen-but the 10c has made progress to give us better seats in the wings

also, SD was probably a VERY popular show for 10c members

i stood in the mud for ten hours at ACL for my front row spot and was happy to do it. these whiners are hilarious.

What's your point? The OP didn't have an option to get there earlier and wait for the best seats. Your comparison doesn't make any sense at all.

  • to brianinsd,

i understand your points, dude. to me, shows are about how the sound in the venue is - that's number 1 for me. that being said, i think locals should get the better seats. like i said before, i don't understand why people have to travel from across the country to see a band EVERY SINGLE TOUR. it's weird and obsessive to me.

most of the people knocking you also complain when they get shutout from presales etc. it's all relative really.

and there were obviously a lotta kooks from outta the area - the 10c lines were massive and verrrry slow (luckily, i cut the line... uh oh, the anal fans are gonna give me crap for admitting that, haha).

so, bottom line is the 10c show go back to one show/tour like in the good ol' days. that's the only answer that makes sense... no offense, super touring fans.

I guess you could call it a boo-boo, or more likely the person who distributed tickets for this show valued the idea of "floor" more than they did the wings.

This is a fatal flaw in thinking when trying to distribute tickets by seniority. (IMO)

I think they went Ten club number 1 - 187XXX, or perhaps 190XXX or so and put ALL of those people on the floor.

Then number 191XXX or so was put in Section Q row 1 and then on up. Touring fans does not have enough info, and this might turn out to be wrong, but I think this is what was done.

Now this is a personal opinion, but I would rather be in Section Q even in the very last/top row of the section, before I would EVER want to be more than 10-15 deep on the floor. That is just me. I'm quite short and last night in something like the 26th row or something the only band member I saw while standing up the entire show was Matt, and then I could only see him when the bobbing heads parted and gave me a glimpse.

I'm never upset, and I don't complain, and I'm one of those happy to be in the building types, but it is a very fair observation to comment on what section is better or worse.

Now getting mad and venting on this board is not the approach I would take, but I can understand the OP's point of view, even if I disagree with the tone of his rant.

Now during either the Chicago or Toronto shows there was a guy who was FUMING mad. Why?

Cause instead of being on the floor he was like 7 rows up on the wings on Mike's side. Other Ten club members with 'worse' numbers than his were deep back on the floor and he felt he was 'screwed' by the Ten Club.

It was astonishing to me, but just goes to show that everyone has a different opinion of what they consider 'good' seats.
  • I understand the frustration of the original poster. Yes its great to be there and experience the show, but its perfectly normal and human to feel disappointed with your seats. I too was pretty shocked with my seats. I'm 148xxx and I think I was 40 rows back on the floor. We had trouble even seeing the stage. It's not that I'm going to bitch and whine about it, but I am confused. I thought that other than rows 1-2 and 9-10 it was seniority based. But people around me had much higher numbers than me. Just didn't make sense....

I believe something was wrong in the way the floor was set up. The front was section
    AAA and BBB
my seats were EEE in the second block right side

Why were there so many AAA and BBB seats??? What about CCC and DDD?? It wouldn't be hard to switch the paper at the back of the section indicating seats and mess up where people were supposed to sit.

100% right. This is why I don't like arena shows as much. The quality of my seat is night and day between places like Irvine Meadows (7th row, amazingly close), and the forum (12th row floor, in distance about twice as far as Irvine).

Mike's side, 7 rows from the floor, and right about midcourt (for the basketball court). The seats/view was incredible.

i was on the floor way back and it kinda sucked way back there (woulda been better in the loge in the same vicinity)... I'm in the 175xxx and I let my membership expire in 97ish (even though there were no numbers then (92), I got screwed with that new number.

but, anyway, they were the crappiest 10c seats i've ever had. not complaining or blaming the 10c.

the problem is the fans that travel from all the place (including la) to sd or whatever cities they travel to. I don't understand the touring fans but whatevers. and i do think they did something different with the way they distributed this year in sd (floor first?).

the show was great but I've seen them play a 'lil better and looser in the past (going back to Indio in 93, kids).

    peace

If I were the band, I'd rather have in front row fans that are passionate enough to travel hundreds of miles to see their favorite band than someone who will complain about how much better they were when they were younger.

    Anyway...
... and the will to show I will always be better than before.

Sorry I hurt your feelings, haha. And do you really think the band thinks people should be spending their Savings touring around the country to see them?.. if you do, then I think you should think a little harder on that. A

And just cuz you travel to see them means you're more passionate?... hahahahahahaha

Uhmmmm... Do you like to travel? Ever been to New York? Why not do it when Pearl Jam is there? What is your point? Which part dont you undertsand? The part of the "touring fan" that likes to travel? Or the part that likes to see multiple shows... Kind of like someone who may go to see their favorite sports team play multiple times in a year...

Do i think the band thinks people "should" spend their $ on following them? I think the band thinks their fans should spend their money on whatever it is they want to spend it on. But... it appears as though you are not a person who understands those of us who enjoy traveling... with or without concerts on our itinerary. Pretty easy for me... but then again... i looooove to travel!

And... btw... that Indio show... well that was the first time i had ever been to the CA desert and the first time i ever went up to Arrowhead... It was a beautiful trip and an incredible time... but the band had a rough night that night...don't you remember? They didnt finish the setlist and even played a song from the sides of the stage because they were so pissed...
  • was just saying that I go back to shows that long ago, not that Indio was the best show ever, haha. but that was a great show! and waaah, who cares if the band was pissed?.. the music was tight that night.

to each his own, but I don't travel to see my fav sports teams either. but I do like to travel just not on a team/group/whatever's watch.

anyways, this is old now; I don't mean to hurt your feelings or anything.
  • I've been a fan for a long time and a member of the Fan Club since 1998 and the best tickets I've ever gotten was in Nashville 2000 and they were 5th Row Center right in front of Ed. That was one of the best shows I been to, as far as seating goes. But there again, I haven't been to that many shows, but my point is, is that I was stoked about the 5th row seats and I'm glad I got them and if I never get that close again, it's OK with me, let someone else who hasn't had that experience get those seats. Just being there, no matter where you sit, should be the most important thing. For the Halloween show, I am in one of the upper levels and I am so excited about it, just because I am going to be there and I can have just as much fun as being on the floor. Because you are going to look back later on in life no matter where you sit and say to yourself " I was fucking there and it was awesome!!" but I digress.....

Mike's side, 7 rows from the floor, and right about midcourt (for the basketball court). The seats/view was incredible.

Those seats are fucking awesome. Anyone with a 160XXX-190XXX ten club number would have switched for these seats in a second.

BUT, it is nice that fans with numbers that are not that great had the better seats this time around.

I would happily take crumier seats to let other fans have a shot at the good ones once in a while.

That happened here and I'd like to give kudos to those that lucked out. Nice work.
